You do realize that this bill was to move the flag from the Statehouse roof to the current location, right?

Note the date if the bill: May 10, 2000

This was long before hating the Confederate battle flag was cool and trendy amongst the libs.

The point is that the bill was the only one that made it to the SC Leg floor.

Pinckney didn’t vote in favor of having the flag on the Capitol grounds, he voted for removing it from the Capitol roof.

The original blog post seems rather... ignunt.

To suggest it here makes the suggester seem ignunt, too.

Oh no, they’ve been hatin’ on it a long time. I wrote a newspaper column around 2002 about the dust-up, jokingly suggesting that these nutcases’ next move would be to digitally remove the flag from the General Lee in “Dukes of Hazzard” reruns. A little more than a decade later ... It’s no joke.

Slain SC Pastor and Senator voted against gay marriage

I've posted wondering about the outrage of what happened several times. It's generally agreed by leaders of black communities and those who opine about them (including Obama) that black men have to step up and accept their role as fathers and husbands. "Demetrius needs a mother and father". On the VERY DAY that Obama eulogized the black pastor, he celebrated "Demetrius can have to mommies" and desecrated the White House with the colors of the gay pride flag.

How sick is that? I wonder how long this nation has to go, until the anger finally explodes.

Here's the way I've been thinking lately: Obama was rejected by his black father and their family. His Caucasian family took him in, but didn't provide a father. When he got a stepfather, it was an Indonesian muslim. Is Obama working to destroy both black and white cultures in favor of the Muslim culture that provided him with a father figure? That scenario would explain a lot. It would also explain why he chose to be black and a father figure.

“This was long before hating the Confederate battle flag was cool and trendy amongst the libs.”

There had been a move afoot for decades to have the flag removed from the Capitol roof.

The bill/vote referenced here was where it succeeded in 2000.

“Pinckney didn’t vote in favor of having the flag on the Capitol grounds, he voted for removing it from the Capitol roof.”

Are you absolutely certain that the Senator didn't understand that the bill required “permanent placement” of the flag at the Confederate Memorial and that it would have the force of law?

If you are certain, could we see your data?

The second part of my sentence clarified the comment: "cool and trendy".

Some people may well have been opposed long ago, but not like they are today.

“Are you absolutely certain that the Senator didn’t understand that the bill required “permanent placement” of the flag at the Confederate Memorial and that it would have the force of law?”

The Leg was presented with 2 alternatives - flag on the Statehouse roof as it had been for almost 40 years, or flag on the Statehouse grounds.

I suspect that the Senator, as well as all the Leg, were smart enough to understand that, and that it would have “permanent placement”, and “that it would have the force of law [the last two subject to a 2/3 vote to change).

To suggest otherwise does our cause no good, and makes you look foolish, and, well.. ignunt.

It’ll take a 67% vote to remove the flag; I hope it fails.
