Unresolved economic and social issues associated with wind turbines

Touting the power of wind and “the possibilities to reshape our energy systems, decarbonize our economies and boost job growth,” the Global Wind Day is coordinated worldwide by the European Wind Energy Association, the Global Wind Energy Council, and various national associations.

Solution Wind, a global awareness campaign is also publicizing the wind industry in advance of the COP21 (U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, also known as “Paris 21”) climate negotiations in Paris, November 30-Decemmber 11, 2015.

The U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change was one of the three documents produced in 1992 at the U.N. Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro. President George H.W. Bush signed the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate and U.N. Agenda 21 documents produced at this conference but refused to sign the U.N. Convention on Biological Diversity document.

Like all aspects of the AGW hoax, this is an enrichment scheme for worthless bureaucrats who would otherwise depend on welfare to support their utterly useless completely unskilled parasitic existence.

We need to erect windmills around Capitol Hill and the White Mosque to collect the energy bloviating from same.

A stable prosperous society requires cheap reliable electricity. You can have cheap, reliable electricity or you can have green energy. You cannot have both.

...or you can have green energy...

Name one form of energy which some environmentalist has not protested.

Windmills - "bird Cuisinart"

Solar concentrator - "bird vaporizer"

Solar Panel farms - "Desert tortoise habitat destroyer"

Hydroelectric dam - "Snail-darter/Elk-toe mussel habitat destroyer"

Mule-drawn plow - "Greenhouse gas (methane & CO2) producing enslavement of Trans-gendered citizen of the planet"

GW Bush & Dick Cheney pulling the plow - "mmmm, that's a tough one. Great idea, but still produces CO2."

You can have birds and bats or you can have green energy. You cannot have both.

Wind-driven electrical power generation, while it may seem “cheap” and the energy is “free”, is and always shall be a niche source of power generation. It is unreliable, it is unwieldy, it is surprisingly high-maintenance, and the hidden costs absolutely destroy any benefit from harnessing “free” energy.

To assure reliability, a natural-gas powered power generation has to be set up in parallel with the wind power system, for those moments (surprisingly many) when the wind power alone is insufficient or totally lacking. Engineering decision - go to natural-gas power generation alone, and dispense with ever even TRYING to utilize wind power, except, as noted above, a niche power source under highly specialized conditions (constant wind, difficulty in supplying other sources, and very remote locations).

Natural gas, we have always. Fracking has revealed the potential for VASTLY more utilization, and that need not be our only source of methane. Organic decomposition and collection, mining the oceans for the recovery of Methane Hydrate, and even mining asteroids for their entrained methane pockets remains as alternative sources as mankind expands throughout the other planets of the solar system.

Methane, as the major component of natural gas, is NOT a fossil fuel. And like carbon dioxide, it is not a “pollutant”, it is an essential building block of all organic life on the planet, and its potential lies with its readiness to combine with elemental oxygen, generating heat energy.

Heat energy is so useful in so many ways.

If wind and solar were privately owned and a source of profits, liberals would want them torn down.

Wind & solar create more environmental harm than hydrocarbon.

Lib agitators rely on the millions of ignorati who believe the reason we don't junk all "fossil" fuels and switch entirely to wind and solar is lack of will and those greedy oil companies who have every pol in their hip pocket.

I've argued with lib friends and family members about this. Of course, it's conservatives who are "anti-science." /s

Stop making sense. It doesn’t play into the agenda of the environ-wackos who want us to go back to the 1800’s. Which reminds me, what is so “progressive” about going back to those days? I wish they all lost electrical power yesterday. Guess who would be screaming the loudest that “Big Brother” didn’t do enough?

The usual technically illiterate nonsense on this topic. Eliminate all subsidies and the free market will prove that utility scale wind is a costs competitive form of generation, just as is being done in the US now. Or did you not know that?

Methane is a carbon based fuel and when burned does release carbon dioxide. The bottom line is that there would be terrible miserable poverty, political instability and famine if the world were to cut fossil fuel consumption by as little as ten percent.

They are croney capitalist privately owned. T. Boone Pickens is one of, if not the largest owner. One of his partners is Nancy Pelosi's husband. From what I understand, with government grants and tax breaks, the windmills are fully paid for in two to five years by our tax dollars and the profit is in the natural gas back up they get paid for even when not running it. NICE.
