The vehicles of Section 8 Housing (Vanity)
Me | 6/8/15 | Me

Posted on 06/08/2015 6:50:06 PM PDT by kik5150

You won't find this on any local news, but what is happening is a crime on a massive scale. Here's the story. My friend works at a section 8 apartment complex, which means that the taxpayers pay most of the rent there. Last week he sent me this picture of a late model Jaguar parked at his complex.

His caption of the picture was "Section 8, rent always late". I asked him how much was their rent. "It just went up, to $80." A MONTH?!! "A month." This means that taxpayers are providing the Jag owner over $1,000 a month to cover most of their rent, with an $80 balance that is always late. It gets worse. The complex is full of high dollar cars, who's owners all get most of their rent paid for by the taxpayers.

A little here about my friend who works at this complex. Both of his parents came from Mexico, legally, and he was born here and is an American citizen. His parents taught him both English and Spanish, so he is fluent in both. So fluent, in fact, that the illegals who inhabit approx. 70% of the section 8 housing in this complex consider him one of them, and confide in him. "Wait," you say. "Non-citizens can't receive government benifits." Yes, they do, and no one is doing anything about it. It works like this. Momma illegal rolls in with the kids in a beat-up car and the "almost homeless" sob story, no job, little money, etc. They give either a false SS# or one of the anchor baby's SS# for the application. They know that the apartment manager has no mechanism or incentive to verify the SS#. In fact, my friend told me that the employees faced termination if they tried in any way to hinder the illegals application, as it would be deemed discrimination. Besides, the employees are NOT INVESTIGATORS. This is what the owners of the apartment complex have told the employees. They only do a credit check, but no check on the legal status of applicants. After momma and the kids move in, papa illegal rolls up in the new Escalade or full-size truck and joins his family. Papa illegal typically works for cash as a landscaper or construction worker. However, he never uses his high dollar truck for work. He has a separate work truck. Therefore, during the day, the complex parking lot is full of high dollar trucks with custom wheels, etc.

If you think this story is an exaggeration, it isn't, at least not at this complex. It is more likely that this situation is common at all section 8 apartments. If you think this is the rantings of a racist, remember that my best friend here is Hispanic. I have to keep his identity secret, for he would probably lose his job if it was known.

Went to a local food bank, a Sally Ann, to drop off some close to out of date stuff from my pantry, and was appalled at the (mostly) new trucks whose drivers, almost excursively Hispanic women, packing out bags of free food. At least they had car seats for the anchor babies. But I understand they can be had for free also. The seats, the babies are costing us. I no longer give anything to food banks. All my donations now go to animal rescue.

How do you determine from visual inspection whether the truck was purchased new or used? I sure can't and am reasonably well informed in the automotive area.

The other thing is that with low interest rates and stretched out loan payoffs these people aren't necessarily paying out that much each month. And the vehicles frequently are repossessed and resold multiple times. Many of the vehicles have remote systems the car dealer can use to disable the vehicle if the payment isn't made on time. At no point do the "owners" have anything like equity. Upside down all the time. Not sure I envy these people owing $60,000 on "their" "new" Escalades. I actually envy the guy driving the rebuilt and paid-for 1990 Geo Metro like I did until recently.

It was an issue—when I was mere months old. The P.R.W.O.R.A. of ‘96?

Obama literally rolled back most, if not all of its provisions. Sigh.

And to think that sanity was beginning to prevail then!

The same exact deal in the Section 8 complex across from our housing complex. It is full of Mercedes S500s, Range Rovers, and BMWs.

Man, nothing like that here. Section 8 apartment building nearby has maybe one older Escalade in the parking lot and a lot of even older beaters. Are you sure part of the complex isn't non-subsidized? Very common here that the majority of units are full rent commercial and a small proportion are Section 8.

I have to question WTH your local or state agencies are doing (or not) who are charged with administering the Section 8 funds. Here, the number of available units is small, the waiting list is long, and it is not unknown for people to be prosecuted for welfare fraud.

It’s California. I think it would be safe to say that anything goes.

*runs to bomb shelter*: Apologies to the conservatives who live there.

Well I was approved for EBT and my monthly allowance was $50, by the time I brought Chicken and vegies, and fruit, eggs and milk. It was almost gone by half way into the month. When it was time for re-renewal I was denied. So now I’m using Food Banks and a former coworker brings me food.

Your right I have seen people using their EBT and they got their cart all filled up and I’m like WTF! I got laid off and yet these folks are filling up their carts like you said Steaks, and other fine food. I know Costco except now EBT and Walmart. o well, I just pray I find a job but with this Obama economy it is hellish.

The job might be the least of his worries. "Snitches get stitches" applies in more places than the 'hood!

And the man most responsible for this was.......

....Jack Kemp, when he ran HUD.

"In many latin cultures it is a matter of pride (not shame) to fool or cheat someone. "

One of my Mexican coworkers told me that very thing. He said "in Mexico, it's do to others before they do unto you." They take pride in screwing each other over.

They bring that value system with them when they cross the border. He doesn't trust his fellow latinos to be honest.

“Got mixed feelings about that, at least they WILL work, and honestly enough at the job that they are kept around.”

Really? So if the crimes they commit are identity theft, lying to avoid taxes, and stealing welfare via fraud it’s alright with you as long as they work? I gotta join your church, it’s easier than the ones I know.

I have a couple of renters on some sort of assistance. They had huge TV’s in every room. On black Friday they replaced them all with even bigger plasma TV’s. (One of them asked if I wanted a TV.) They run their air conditioning and heat at extremes I find uncomfortable because they don’t have to pay for it. If 80 is uncomfortable in the summer why do they heat the house to that in the winter. Conversely, if 72 us uncomfortable in the winter why is the house cooled to that in the summer? They are drunk 100% of the time. How do they afford that? Giving people money leads to behavior that would never happen if they were required to make their own money.

“If they can afford such nice cars, then how are they poor enough for Section 8 housing in the first place???”

There are several answers. I had renters buying steaks on EBT and selling them for cash. They were also growing marihuana on my property. When I was at the welfare/unemployment center the clients couldn’t use their cell phones inside. They’d step outside and lean against the mirrored wall-sized window where I was taking a “free” computer class. They’d talk about committing robberies, selling/buying drugs, prostitution, etc. They are making plenty of money. They just don’t report it.
