Bernie Sanders: We don’t need 23 deodorant choices when children are hungry
Canada Free Press ^ | 05/27/15 | Dan Calabrese

our average left-winger agrees with this stuff and thinks Sanders is a genius

Just as an exercise in curiosity, I’m going to try to think like a socialist. And since I really have no earthly idea how socialists come up with the ideas they embrace, I’m going to let Bernie Sanders get me rolling. Tell me, Bernie, your thoughts on economic growth:

The whole size of the economy and the GDP doesn’t matter if people continue to work longer hours for low wages and you have 45 million people living in poverty. You can’t just continue growth for the sake of growth in a world in which we are struggling with climate change and all kinds of environmental problems. All right? You don’t necessarily need a choice of 23 underarm spray deodorants or of 18 different pairs of sneakers when children are hungry in this country. I don’t think the media appreciates the kind of stress that ordinary Americans are working on. People scared to death about what happens tomorrow.

So let me see if I have this straight: Children are hungry, and hungry people need food, but there isn’t enough food for them because, instead of producing food, 23 different companies are making spray deodorant, and 18 different companies are making sneakers. Why, they could be producing food!

We had The Great Society and The War On Poverty. Total loss. Who’s fault is that?

So Bernie wants us all working on the collective farm.

I guess that’s marginally better than Gore who wants to kill all but those who work on the collective farm.

We need fewer corporations paying taxes in Bernie’s world, hang on... how will they feed kids on less revenue?

He’s an idiot. The world if anything overproduces food.

Famine is caused by corruption, when the logistics and supply chain is disrupted.

Third world nations go hungry because dictators care more about lining their pockets.

Government will tell us all what our jobs are - the leftist utopia, with gulags for the ingrates.

It's not like those who are inclined to vote for Bernie are in any way inclined to use any personal hygiene product

There are way too many brands of Ice Cream. We probably can do without all those Ben and Jerry’s flavors.

Excuse me, Mr. Sanders, I don’t need your help — or the government — to 1) raise my kids, 2) Feed my Kids, 3) Educate my kids or 4) Shop for my kids. Matter of fact, my kids — and other home schooled kids — are on your enemies list.

I don't see how the US has children going hungry. We have an array of government and private programs out there.

One private program is heavily advertised in western PA. It provides food in a backpack because, allegedly, kids are going hungry on weekends when school is not in session. Now these kids are being fed 2, maybe 3 meals a day at school 5 days a week. Many schools continue the feeding program during summer vacation. On top of that, the parents get welfare, food stamps and who knows how many other benefits. But they can't give their kids even one meal?

Throwing more money and creating even more feeding programs will not solve the problem. It's time to shut off the tap, get these lazy parents off their duffs and start caring for their offspring.
