HESPERIA, Calif. (KABC) -- A 4-year-old boy's foot had to be amputated after he was attacked by his father's police dog in Hesperia.
Authorities say a neighbor heard a child screaming in the backyard of a house Sunday afternoon and called 911. That neighbor also shouted for help from others nearby.

Law enforcement service dogs while useful in law enforcement to a degree are becoming more of a liability. What law enforcement in general has become is disgraceful and frankly unacceptable now.
There needs to be very strict and harsh penalties for when cops do stupid stuff or are negligent with the tools of their job that result in injury or death. That dog is a liability, the handler is a liability and nothing will happen. Sad.
The only dogs/trainers I worked with were Schutzhunds. Thanks for educating me on the languages used with other types.
One other thing. In my house, I’m the top dog. So why won’t my wife obey my orders? More training needed?

I know nothing of what happened other than what I read so here is one possible scenario: the boy may have picked up one of Jango’s toys and in a fit of jealousy attacked the boy. The reward for a K9 is typically a ball or toy.
