The .22 Magnum is a difficult round to make function properly in a semi-auto. That is one of the reasons they do not have multiple barrel lengths for the PMR-30.
A straight blow-back .22 LR is common and easy to make.
I understand that the velocity of the magnum out of the PMR-30 is about 1300 fps.
Yes, it is a difficult round. In this gun it is perhaps louder than some of my other weapons in much larger calibers, actually.
That said, this light clamshell plastic gun is an engineering masterpiece of lightness and fine tuning that doesn’t meet practical use, IMO. The magazines don’t actually work well with 30 rounds in them unless they have been pampered a lot, the barrel is a sliding design intended to ease the insertion angle of the round and then lock up when the slide is closed. The feed ramp is plastic, and the double concentric spring design for the recoil spring is problematic, IMO.
One thing you’ll hear and see if you visit the KTec operators group web pages is a very lot of “fluff and buff” stuff. Polishing, easing of burrs, and the like. That may be fine for metal as I’ve done for some 1911s and other guns etc., but all this is about fluffing and buffing PLASTIC. What it really is about is that a bunch of owners are making excuses for something “not quite ready for prime time” IMO.
“Yes officer, that is my legally acquired and owned firearm. I use it only for all lawful purposes. Here is my ID, and a business card to my attorney. Any further questions you may have, I will answer only with him/her present”.

You are absolutely correct. That response guarantees that the argument will NOT be made on the street, but in the interview room at the station house. After your attorney gets there. That plays hell with schedules.
As I implied, I not want to argue ON THE STREET with a biased LEO over something as trivial as a threaded barrel .
Thanks for mentioning that DP shotgun. I never knew it existed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzAaTcOdt6Q
I liked what I saw, frankly. I like the double barrels and the ability to load two shells at once. They say the pump, shoot shoot takes some practice, but I think I’d like it better than my KSG, actually.
Good grief, hell no. And your unfounded assumption is just plain insulting to gun owners.
whats your issue with the barrel being prethreaded for one?
Considering how many inexperienced officers there are, and how many movies they've watched,
it seems reasonable that an officer may think it's a Federal offense. Aka, Silencer,
Assassin, or some other stupid idea. Having to explain the threaded barrel on a CHL weapon IMO,
is just inviting an anal probe by the Police.
Am I wrong in this assumption? Even though it is rare to have your weapon inspected
the police are allowed to do just that, in every state.
Me too. I’ll have to look into that.
One of my friends owned one ,loved to shoot cans and bottles with it.The Grendel had a natural feel in my hand.Always hoped they would come out with a carbine or rifle along the same lines.
aren’t there serious feed issues with these?
Having to explain the threaded barrel on a CHL weapon IMO, is just inviting an anal probe by the Police.I've never had any problems and almost everything I own is threaded, to include each of my carry guns. Of course, other jurisdictions may not be as sane as mine so your mileage may vary.
If you're stuck in CA or NY or anywhere that may ban threaded barrels on pistols, I feel for you. If that's the case, you probably have worse gun law problems than worrying about threaded barrels. I *double* feel for you...
30 round .22 LR? As long as someone other than Kel-Tec produces it for popular .22 pistols, then these will sell like like hotcakes!
You are absolutely correct. That response guarantees that the argument will NOT be made on the street, but in the interview room at the station house. It may guarantee it in your jurisdiction, but not in mine. In my jurisdiction, presuming a cop even bothered to ask about the threaded barrel on a carry gun, it would probably be to compare each other's suppressors. Our Sheriff happily signs off on NFA paperwork, no questions asked.
I'd hate life, living in a jurisdiction with a bunch of Barney Fife's who pee backwards at the mere sight of an otherwise legal threaded pistol barrel, to the point of hauling you all the way to the station. That's nuts.

If they have reason to believe that there is criminal activity, and that you are a threat, they can disarm you, momentarily, and I suppose they could inspect the firearm at that point.
In Arizona, we have a supreme court ruling that they cannot take your firearm simply because they want to. They have to have a articulable suspicion that of criminal activity, then a reason to believe the person is armed and dangerous.

The decision is based on the second amendment, not the State Constitution.

I’d welcome an arrest for a threaded barrel. Bigger payoff than any mtg I might be headed to.
