We Should Be Torturing MORE, Not Less
Rabble Writer ^ | 12/12/14 | Caleb Howe

Somebody has to be the good guy. So says Peggy Noonan this week in the wake of the torture report, a 14 million page accounting of mostly standard, typical, usual, unremarkable methods of forcibly extracting information from an enemy. And isn’t that a word we seem to have forgotten: enemy.

The concept of an enemy is one of the most basic, primitive understandings possible. It is obvious, and should require no explanation. And yet here we are. Because we don’t have them, anymore. There is no evil empire. The modern sensibility, informed heavily by pseudo-leftist pop culture and leftover hippie pretend philosophy has no room for foreign powers with whom we struggle and against whom we fight to the death. The concept is archaic to them.

So the very idea that there is a man in this world who by virtue of having taken up arms against America, gets his deserts when left to listen to Taylor Swift too long or gets a hydraulic colonoscopy, cannot enter into their conscious mind as a truth. Even Bin Laden got privacy for his corpse and (officially anyway) a respectful Muslim burial. Because we are the good guys, the argument goes.

On our televisions, and on social media and blogs where unsolicited opinion is the ware we all hawk to an audience of other aspiring hawkers, the “debate” goes on about whether these techniques have been effective, whether they have produced intelligence, and whether they’ve led to any successes. Reports are cited, examples are discussed, and the world’s least effective mediators, TV anchors, proclaim the question unanswered and the practice, therefore, unsupportable. But there is no debate. If the question is “have our enhanced interrogation techniques done any good” then the answer is a resounding and unquestionable “yes, of course.”

Lois Lerner would be a good place to start.

LESS implies we are torturing people. I don’t accept the premise that we are really torturing people at all

The Left wants to change the definition of the word, “enemy” so we can’t recognize them when we see them here on U.S. soil...just my opinion

Need lots of gentle reminders that when captured by the U.S., it would be better to start giving valid information in the beginning. We need a complete overhaul of leadership with backbone and determination.

What worries me is the "Advanced Drone Usage," ADU! (Might as well make a new acronym). We cannot claim moral high ground with ADU as Josh Ernst discovered via Ed Henry this week. The real problem with ADU is not the loss of life or moral high ground...it is a massive loss of intelligence. We are killing information we previously obtained from interrogation. Thanks to Obama's ADU, we are now militarily blinded by his policies...and we are never going to see them coming.

Amazing the reason for the Federal Government's inception was to protect the nation from foreign enemies..my how the role has reversed. (And the first enemy our newly formed government pursued? MUSLIM pirates!, we are living in a reversed parallel universe.

The US has an enormous range of pharmaceutical drugs that could make interrogations quick, reliable and often painless. Waterboarding as a technique is over 100 years old, an outdated relic.

We need to be able to pick them up with drones.
You can just imagine the conversation...

Achmed, I was just picked up by an alien ship...
then I got an anal probe...

Very true talk. As it says in the post:
But are they torture? If they are, then we should be torturing more, not less. But if they are not, and they are not, then all we have done this week ...

That is exactly right. Obama and the left in general are oblivious to the value of war-fighting technique that has been perfected over centuries. They aren't prepared to face the reality of war, and so they aren't prepared for the necessities it entails. Intelligence is vital. But the steps necessary to obtain it are beyond the little fake world they have constructed around their imaginations and so they'll have none of it.

Drones fit them perfectly. No fuss, no muss, and only as real as a video game.
