E-mails show White House tried to muzzle Sharyl Attkisson

One of the documents provides smoking gun proof that the Obama White House and the Eric Holder Justice Department colluded to get CBS News to block reporter Sharyl Attkisson. Attkisson was one of the few mainstream media reporters who paid any attention to the deadly gun-running scandal.
In an email dated October 4, 2011, Attorney General Holder’s top press aide, Tracy Schmaler, called Attkisson “out of control.” Schmaler told White House Deputy Press Secretary Eric Schultz that he intended to call CBS news anchor Bob Schieffer to get the network to stop Attkisson.
Schultz replied, “Good. Her piece was really bad for the AG.”
Schultz also told Schmaler that he was working with reporter Susan Davis, then at the National Journal, to target Rep. Darrel Issa (R-CA). Issa led the House investigation into Fast and Furious. Davis now works at USA Today. In the email chain, Schultz tells Schmaler that he would provide Davis with “leaks.”
Davis wrote a critical piece on Issa a few weeks later.

You have put your finger on what is actually occurring almost in slow motion before our eyes—the re-creation of a Nazi Germany-like totalitarian state right here in the USA!
Only this time, there will not be, as happened 70 years ago, a United States of America who will free us from tyranny like we rescued Europe from the Nazis in WW2.
Our nation is in mortal danger. This is not hype in the least. As you describe, the levers of restraint against Obama that we all think will kick in are already cut or severely compromised, just as in Germany 80 years ago.
I used to wonder how a technically advanced, educated nation like Germany could descend into totalitarian madness under Hitler like Germany did in the 1930s.
I no longer wonder. It is happening under our very eyes, today, here in America.
It remains to be seen whether the GOP will rise to the challenge of this generation in 2015, to block or to remove Obama. It is not looking very hopeful.

Yes, you understand. That is the main point. Team Obama does not move forward until the brake lines are already cut. I assume that at the very least Boehner and McConnel are under blackmail control. They will speak against Obama for show, but they won’t take actions against him. And I also tend to believe that Chief Justice Roberts is under control, and can be depended upon to support Obama at crunch time, they way he flipped on Obamacare at the last hour.

If I was a “reasonable” writer I might trim it and tailor it and tame it and try to get it placed in a name-brand national blog, but I’m not reasonable, and I don’t like being trimmed, tailored, or tamed.
Outstanding essay. I no longer think the solution to the Emperor Obama and his Marxist henchmen problem will come from within the existing system. There must be an enormous change from outside box to save the US or create something worthy from the ashes.

This cannot be underestimated. Fast and Furious was the first salve. To willfully have people die for the political position of denying 2nd amendment rights is something out of a spy novel. But it is not. If it were not for the incompetence and lack of foresight with Fast and Furious, I should tremble. They are, after all, idiots, evil idiots.
I believe F&F was laying the ground work for flooding the border. I am just connecting the dots that may not be connected.
F&F was just one of the many diabolical schemes being foisted on America. I believe that we have not seen the end of these schemes.
ABCNNBCBS are fully integrated with the Administration...not just willing accomplices, IOW, the powers-that-be in these organs just do not blindly take orders, they are obviously aware of game plans and objectives. Otherwise they would have a seat at the table with a list of their own demands. These organs share the same capacity for taking down the administration, wholesale...but what is in it for them if they do not?
Blackmail is their way but I'd bet a dozen doughnuts that many in the Admin, including Obama, have dirty laundry.
I speculate that Obama himself is being set up. I have no proof. I will leave it at that.
But Obama is no Hitler. Hitler received 5 medals for bravery during WW 1. He can be audacious, indeed as you would expect a con-man, but he lacks the intestinal fortitude of real men. Obama is definitely not the brains of the administration.
It is the way of the community organizer, once known as a communist agitator, to foment as much chaos and strife. It appears to me that President Spite will move on from amnesty to something just as far-reaching and sinister.
My thoughts.
Seems to that for those people who can't be blackmailed, threatening their family "from a position of credibility", kinda like the Mexican mafia offering the blackmailee the choice of "the gold or the lead", would be effective.
It seems that the way to deal with such a thing would be for the target of the intimidation to just, uh, take care of the criminal apparatchik on the spot.
But that's easy for me to say, of course, not facing the criminal myself, at least not right now. Seems like Solzhenitsyn had something to say about that situation...

Bottom line is we just need to keep staying the course, never relent, and try to do our best to make others aware, and as civic minded to do their duties as we all discuss in these forums...
Apathy is one of our main enemies, and a lot of folks, and the media are ironically feeding that Apathy beast...Working against our enthusiasms...

Thanks for writing this provacative article. I read “In the Garden of Beasts” several months ago and found the parallels to the current administration to be chilling.
As a complete aside, I highly recommend another book by Eric Larson - “The Devil in the White City” about the building of the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair intertwined with the story of a serial killer.

I agree that Obama is no Hitler. As was pointed out above, Hitler had an Iron Cross from WW1, and wrote his own book and speeches.
But “Team Obama” with Dear Leader as their front man is just as dangerous.

Those who have been essentially “ignoring” recent events as abherrations need to get shaken up.
Nice summary of facts, but the overarching theme - that the Feds control the media - was indelibly obvious to me ever since my own experiences off the coast during the fall of Saigon and during the Mayaguez Incident.
Even now, at this very moment, reading the internet: all I know for sure is that there are certain pixel-generated language symbols and images appearing on my screen. They implicitly promise to represent the truth. I may buy that, but I buy it at my own risk.
As Mark Twain once said, “History may not repeat itself, but it surely does rhyme.”
It’s there for those with the eyes and the will to see.
