So, the entire "Yes on I-594" crowd's collective pants spontaneously combusted.
Let's take these latest flat-out lies in order, shall we?
1. "No mandatory waiting periods" WHAT I-594 SAYS:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 4. A new section is added to chapter 9.41 RCW to read as follows: Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, a licensed dealer may not deliver any firearm to a purchaser or transferee until the earlier of: (1) The results of all required background checks are known and the purchaser or transferee is not prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm under federal or state law; or (2) Ten business days have elapsed from the date the licensed dealer requested the background check. However, for sales and transfers of pistols if the purchaser or transferee does not have a valid permanent Washington driver's license or state identification card or has not been a resident of the state for the previous consecutive ninety days, then the time period in this subsection shall be extended from ten business days to sixty days.

How are the polls doing on this and the counter-law?
From what I’ve been able to see/read, it looks like 594 will get through just fine. Millionaire busy bodies may win this one. Hopefully a law suit will follow to through it out.
I have not heard. At the end of September they looked bad. I heard one report that they had improved about three weeks ago. I have not heard anything since then.
WA Ping It is hard to poll rural areas in Washington as there is no real media coverage outside Seattle metro and Olympia. But republican party organizations and NRA phone banks are reporting strong opposition to 594. Law enforcement is doing a good job in opposition and 26 of 39 Sheriffs have formally come out against it.
Fingers crossed. Sadly the pop centers, as in all states, usually have the final say in the outcome.

Republican turn out has been a huge problem for Republicans in Whatcom County, ever since the Republicans endorsed the coal terminal. The last election saw every Republican lose due to poor turn out . I think that they will maintain the few seats that are up foe re-election this time, but it will be unnecessarily close. The democrat who is running forva state Senate doesn’t even really live in the district and shouldn’t be a problem, but he is.
We were ready to hold our noses and vote Republican until the Erickson sent out a flier supporting the coal terminal, again.
King, Pierce, Snohomish, Skagit, and Whatcom sheriffs seem to be pro-594. That covers 90% of the state population-wise.
Mill Creek is just up Bothell-Everett Hwy from me. Its a island of gentrification set between gritty Everett and teeming Bothellabad.

The coal terminal has no benefit yo Whatcom a county and lots of negatives. They are making no plans to protect the area from fugitive coal dust which will be spread in a three to five mile radius around the terminal, on farms, homes and school yards. ...and that is only one problem. That is completely separate from the coal trains which will traverse the western shoreline of the county, all the most valuable view property. It is already depressing the property values in the county. The property owners in the south end of town don’t want to talk about it, but the land is already slipping from the weight and vibrations of the coal trains. One property owner had a gazebo in the back of their yard, to take advantage of the view, and they woke up one morning this summer and the gazebo was gone. They blame the trains. The south end of Bellingham could end up with a land slide to rival Oso.
Then there are the road closures around Ferndale that they plan. They plan to close the road, north of Dendale for several hours a day to get the trains through, rather than on every hour. That would cut off emergency services and force parents to take a twenty minute detour t get to their kids’ schools.
There will be only about forty jobs created by the coal terminal, itself. Those jobs will be ILWU jobs, an openly communist union that supports Hamas and ISIS and have blocked both an Israeli ship and the Kurdish oil tanker from unloading to express their opposition.
No one Whatcom County wants the coal terminal except union members and Lynden residents because it will harm everyone else in one way or the other. The coal terminal is just not a good fit for Whatcom a County and the developers lied about it, much the same way that Obama lied about Obamacare.
We do have an ongoing coal train issue here in Seattle, but I didn't realize that involved Bellingham, I thought it was a local issue.
