All in: Democrats plan full-court press to defeat Walker
HotAir ^ | October 24, 2014 | Guy Benson

Scott Walker appeared to be pulling away from Mary Burke. He led by nearly six points in the respected Marquette Law poll, had cracked 50, and enjoyed a 13-point cushion with independent voters. Then came MU’s mid-October survey, in which Walker’s lead vanished completely, with the race deadlocked at 47. All three of those data points represented noticeable departures from most polling trends, but the top line number showed an exact tie — which mirrors the RCP average. The last three polls of the contest have produced a tie, a Burke lead of one point, and Walker edge of the same margin. With the race a pure toss-up, Democrats are making a major final push for Burke. Not only are they deploying Bill Clinton to the state, they’re also welcoming…President Obama to Wisconsin, whom Burke assiduously avoided on two previous occasions. In my mind, this means one of two things:

Either (a) Team Burke has decided that the cake is already baked in terms of Obama’s unpopularity, so while his appearance won’t change many minds either way, it will potentially boost turnout among African-Americans, or (b) they’ve seen sufficient movement in their internal numbers that suggest Obama’s image is on the mend in Badger country. The Washington Post’s Robert Costa hears from Wisconsin Dems that Burke is preparing a final blitz against Walker on the John Doe “controversy,” as well as the “polarizing” 2011 budget fight. This is a neat trick the Left pulls, incidentally. They channel sustained, distilled hatred at a Republican for years on end, engaging in mob thuggery and unprecedented opposition that would have the media reaching for the smelling salts if the roles were reversed, then pronounce their target “polarizing.”

More ballot box stuffing, last second buses with illegal immigrants, and recalibration of electronics voting machines, eh?

Not trying to be argumentative, but those three do not seem all that helpful. Palin, I surmise, has a negative favorability rating in Wisconsin; Cruz and Carson, despite all the love they get in the conservative blogosphere, probably don't have that good of name recognition in Wisconsin.

I have seen how Bill Clinton works in this kind of situation and it is very troubling to see how he can amp up the minority turnout. He will do radio spots on urban stations and robo-calls that target black voters. That way, this offensive schmuck does not aggravate and turn up opposition turnout. He was in Miami-Dade probably 3x in the week before the 2012 election. Miami-Dade stayed open late, not on court orders, but simply on the decision of the supervisor of elections for that county. Obama won Florida by ~ 70K votes, many of which came from voters who were not in line at the normal 7:00 pm closing time. The last votes in Miami-Dade were cast at nearly 1:00 am in some precincts. That’s how it is done in FL.

Wisconsin better not let Walker down. I’ll be terribly disappointed.

I would not get too worked up over anything Rober Costa or his WP utter on elections. Just go back to the Scott Walker “recall” election about two years ago. You will see that PPP (Democrat) poll had Walker losing by about nine points, two weeks before the election. Then suddenly....three days before the election, PPP changed its polling calling the race tied (to protect their polling reputation). On election day, Walker beat his Democrat low life gutter vermin by a healthy seven point margin!!! So much for bogus polls!!! And......if Obama is truly coming to Wisconsin......Burke is in mighty big trouble!! They call it panic!!!

Obama is not widely popular but he can ramp up the minority base to turn out.
In the same way, Palin and Cruz have their unpopularities, but they can turn out conservative votes.
They need to get to Wisconsin. Walker needs voter turnout.

The Dem’s are bringing in their people to boost turn out of their base. The Repubs can bring Palin, Ted Cruz, and Ben Carson to boost turn out of our base. At this point it will be about base turn out...not necessarily about winning hearts and minds.

By the way, newbie...you seemed to have joined FR just in time for the elections....kind of a slick skill you have in verbally chilling FR ardor for 3 of FR’s more popular politicians. So do you have anybody in mind that you would like Walker to bring in to help boost his chances...other than Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin, or Ben Carson?

A lot of change agents try to join FR during election years... so who are you?

If the airhead Madison radical, Burke, wins, then she’ll do two or less years and resign (as is her historic pattern) - citing boredom, lack of interest, and off to snowboarding with friends in some foreign country.

If this occurs, America will have entered a period where voters see political candidates with no work history, no defined background, and no achievements as preferable to candidates that have those qualifications. America will then quickly degenerate into a basket case, making some Third World countries look appealing places to live,

Meanwhile, WI will be stuck with whomever is Lt. Gov. as the new Governor.

And it will be back to high state income and property taxes, long unemployment lines, companies once again fleeing the state, the resurrection of the heavily subsidized trains to nowhere - built overseas at huge expenses to the WI taxpayers - but most importantly, this period will see the return of lavish perks for teachers, increased salaries, and forced union participation - all payed for through higher property taxes. All leading to the return of union control of State and local political and financial control.

When all this turns the state into the financial red, there will be a return to borrowing until the state is bankrupt, a state of existence which will force people out of their homes and into government dependency, thus creating more Democrat voters to further exacerbate the situation.

By all means (and the socialist Democrats will), vote Burke - she’s not Walker ...

In the end, Wisconsin will have lost the government it needs to prosper, and achieved the government it deserves.

Walker's people need to shadow and videotape buses coming across the state line from Illinois to Milwaukee and Madison on election day. That's how they did it in November 2012.

They couldn't pull the scam in June of 2012, because it would have been too obvious.

They'll have the cover of the general election this time.
