So, arrogantly feeling she was above local laws and ignoring the fact she was NOT covered by a SOFA and ignoring DoD policy to protect females (to ensure safety from the locals and local authorities), McSalley sued the DoD even though the DoD and USAF had NO authority to waive local laws. None.
She acted dishonorably by suing the USAF/DoD. It was all about her, a violation of the Air Force ethic of “service before self.”
She was a LtCol when this happened and because of her politicizing the issue, making it all about HER, the USAF passed her on to colonel because they didn't want to face another politically-driven lawsuit if she wasn't promoted. . .she was on track to retire as a LtCol. . .consequently, she was promoted.
She is NOT held in high regard by the Hog Driver community nor by anyone who served alongside her in theater.

Think I'll take this one with a grain of salt. Considering they had no problem with gang-raping Jessica Lynch when she was captured, I do not see them as being terribly afraid of women at all.

The women were for the most part forced to be bodyguards but got little respect from the other males for all that.
They were also his personal sex playthings, willing or not. Do a bit of research and you will find the story of at least one woman who managed to escape his clutches to finally find her way out to Civilization and tell her story.

Great. They did their PC duty and promoted her. Now RIF her snarly a$$ the hell out. She is not the first to use her gender to cause a fuss and favouritism in the military, nor the last. Not all of them either, I hasten to add, but also yet another reason why I will never again take orders from a female zero -and hasten to remind people when mutters about being RTD reach these ears.
Of course, I was never too good about taking orders from intel weenies either, but then again none of us were.

With ya on the intel part. Funny story: Flying F-15E’s in the 90’s at Red Flag, post mission the intel weenie would debrief us and was getting frustrated by our supposed “precise’ information as to where the engagement happened exactly and such things. . .so we gave him a ride in the jet during a mission. Spent the mission with his head in a bag barfing up a lung, and when we landed he left the flight line, couldn’t answer a single intel question and went to the Q and ‘crashed’ for an entire day.
Of course, we also had great intle weenies with cast-iron guts that could handle it.
Yeah, SOFAs be darned, we don’t need no SOFAs. . .point being it was all about HER, she sued the DoD while the DoD did not have the SOFA and was working on it, but noooo, she made it all about her.
DoS had been in Kuwait a very long time, longer that DoD and besides, females serving in DoS posts did not violate local laws. . .meaning females are prohibited from serving in the Kuwait military at the time so we were going to unilaterally enter their country and just ignore their laws.
Getting the SOFA at that time was a difficult process, whereas the DoS was operating within a totally different environment and the mere presence of a female DoS employee was not a violation of their national law. The fact we had a female COMBATANT in Kuwait at all, well past Gulf War I, was an achievement.
But of course, what’s national relationships, diplomatic maneuvering, discreet negotiations and working towards a resolution that would allow females off base and not endanger the US-friendly government when the feelings of a single narcissistic female is more important than all other considerations.
Maybe we should tell the jihadis that we have female soldiers, and all our bullets are greased with pig fat, so they can’t know whether they are eligible for Muslim paradise until after they are dead.
