If GOP takes the Senate, what happens?
Dan Miller's Blog ^ | May 16, 2014 | Dan Miller

The Trifecta predictions are gloomy, but not necessarily correct if we get enough conservatives -- who say what they mean and mean what they say -- into both houses of the Congress. We need to try.

Beyond that, and also beyond whether the apparently archaic word "integrity" has been removed from the congressional dictionary, even RINOs might reject a few of Obama's left-wing judicial appointees, and that's important. Spending reductions? Maybe. Perhaps a Senate majority might even agree with a Republican controlled House.

A little bit of jack and a little bit of s*it.

But the Dems hands will be off of congress at least.

Raise the debt ceiling. Pass an amnesty bill. Confirm marxist nominees. Purge conservatives from committees.

The GOP has never substantially reduced government when they had the chance. Both sides grow government. Both sides increase spending. They just increase it on different things. Dems give stuff away. The GOP spends on the military and home-pork.

We need to trim government. It hasn’t happened in my lifetime. I’d start with the Department of Energy, the Department of Education and just work my way down the budget. If it didn’t exist in 1910, it’s history...

Nothing will happen. Oh a judge or two may be turned down but anything the GOP tried to do legislatively in the Senate would be filibustered by the Democrats.

All the ‘Republicans’ who win, instantaneously and miraculously become Liberals. ;)

If GOP takes the Senate, what happens?///

To show there are no hard feelings, the GOP will reach across the aisle to the left. If enough rinos are elected/reelected, they will pass immigration deform.

The key word is not GOP but (true) conservatives. JMO

They will change the rules to favor the minority party first thing, to prove they are magnanimous.

Right now there are people in DC demanding that corrupt leaders be removed from office, and everyone on FR is crapping on them. The consensus answer to the question asked will be “The GOP will do nothing”. Then when someone plans to answer government usurpation, Freepers mock it.

What’s it going to be?

Despite all the cynicism here, if it only gets Harry Reid out of the well it’s fine with me.

I agree. The cynical preening here and elsewhere gets pretty tiresome.

The planet will stop healing, the oceans will rise. Slavery will be reinstated, Roe vs Wade will be overturned and it will be illegal to be LGBT. Obama phones will be confiscated, starving poor people will die in the streets. Illegals will be shot along with their children and only the 1% will be eligible for healthcare.

In the movie:
It really didn’t matter if Thelma was driving the T-bird at 100mph or Louise at a more sedate 90mph, the car was still going to go off the cliff in a few moments.

Same thing here.

The Goofy GOP will “reach across the aisle” to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
