Payton, Brooks and 'down there'
A forfeited high school baseball game has Chicago talking. Good.

.......... Wittleder said he couldn't field a full team and would have to forfeit. Some players' parents, Wittleder later told the Sun-Times, didn't want their sons to play "down there."
The response to the story was about what you'd expect. Some denounced the Payton parents as racist. Others defended them for trying to keep their kids out of harm's way. Some said they would have had second thoughts about letting their own kids play on the South Side, having seen the headlines about random violence and warm weekend nights. .....

Whatever company they worked for should have been boycotted. Bigots need to be weeded out.
they have a right to do that though
Hmmmm, so diversity and hurt feelings should mandate that parents bring their children to a place that may not be safe based on factual data.
Me: I’m sticking with the facts and a plan for my kids to not risk their life for an ideology that places emotion over facts
And when their children are injured or killed because the parents were AFRAID of offending someone? Well that’s just part of the price we must pay for a post racial America.
Yeah Right, those parents would have been castigated as well as blaming themselves for the rest of their lives for not being the over-protective parents our society now demands.
Face-it, you just can’t get a break from the Liberal control freaks.
So the white parents are racists because they care enough about their kids to keep them out of harm’s way? BS. They’d be walking into a kill zone where only the thugs have weapons and the cops won’t go.
I think they are responsible adults who care about their kids.
Would you send your children to a battle zone? “Down there” means a war zone in Chicago. The players would have to furnish their own transportation to “down there.” No Way!
I didn’t copy you, just think like you. I didn’t see your post until I posted mine due to being a slow typist.
There are places that logical people (of all races, sex and gender) know not to go for safety concerns associated with other humans and their behavior. American's should steer clear of Iran for vacations. Does anyone dispute this? Why? It is dangerous. How do we know this? Who would disagree?
Now take those same logical answers and apply them to certain areas of certain cities. Only hypocrites (same as liberals) would diverge from their own logic to excuse the obvious.
whether the game was to be played “down there,” or not, they didn’t have enough eligible players due to the fact that some had missed practice that week to prepare for Advanced Placement testing, and others missed to visit colleges...
This falls into the same category as gay scout leaders. When one of the kids is molested because the parents don’t want to offend someone.....
“Would you send your children to a battle zone?”
Would I? No.
Would I now expect to get called racist and hateful? Yes.
Could it now lead to job loss? Maybe.
had missed practice that week to prepare for Advanced Placement testing, and others missed to visit colleges...
= = = = = = = = = = = = = =
As a general train of thought - Do you think that is anything more than an ‘excuse’ NOT to go?
We all know that all you have to do is say I want to go to college and the door swings open. Don’t feed me with all this crap that there are costs and tests...s/
Chi-town being the great ‘Union’ area would guess the ‘embedded’ robbers in the neighborhood of the school are suing because those ‘RICH WHITE PEOPLE’ aren’t bringing their cars ‘down here’.
If ‘they’ drum it into you enough, “ALL WHITE PEOPLE are rich and just want to keep us down” becomes a reality.
Chicago... Wittleder said he couldn't field a full team and would have to forfeit. Some players' parents, Wittleder later told the Sun-Times, didn't want their sons to play "down there." ...Others defended them for trying to keep their kids out of harm's way. Some said they would have had second thoughts about letting their own kids play on the South Side, having seen the headlines about random violence and warm weekend nights.
