Federal Air Marshalls Director Resigns Over SIG Selling Scheme By Robert Farago on April 11, 2014

“The director of the Federal Air Marshal Service [FAMS] is resigning after being investigated for his role in an alleged operation to acquire guns for officials’ personal use, FoxNews.com has learned. Director Robert Bray’s home was raided in December in connection with the ongoing probe. Law enforcement and congressional sources told FoxNews.com that Bray’s recently announced resignation, which is effective in June, is directly related to the investigation.

“[Bray] is accused of using the agency’s federal firearms license and his relationship with gun manufacturer Sig Sauer to obtain discounted and free guns. He then provided them to high-up agency officials for their personal use, according to whistleblower documents obtained by FoxNews.com and interviews with multiple officials with knowledge of the ongoing probe.”

Why do high agency officials need to be armed anyway? Seriously?

"I noticed that they were carrying in their uniform holsters full-size Sig Sauer P226 pistols. The agents told me that their guns were indeed chambered for .357 Sig and loaded with the same Speer Gold Dot bonded, jacketed hollow point ammunition used by the Presidential detail."

In DC? Do these recipients have permits? Does he have an FFL? Or is this more illegal D-Rat gun-running like Holder and Yee?

I’m not understanding what laws were broken here. Did he resell SIGs without a license? That would be berserkedly stupid. Did he inform his cohorts that he could get $100 off on a personal P226/P229 for anyone who wanted one?

I’ll credit him with good taste in hardware.

Straw Purchase

“Concealing the identity of the true buyer of a gun is a crime,”

It is illegal under federal law for a person to knowingly make a false statement related to the purchase of a firearm from a licensed dealer, manufacturer or importer, where the falsehood is material to the legality of the sale or other disposition of the firearm. The amicus brief argues a person who engages in a straw purchase is in violation of the federal statute even if the true purchaser is not barred by law from buying a gun.

It’s nuts how many govt. employees are armed. I got a Sig P225 “goverment trade in” at a local store. It had been issued to a mid-level guy in the friggin’ USDA. On the good side, it was unfired and the magazines looked like they haad never been loaded.

Sounds like he was using the agency authority to purchase guns and then giving them out to people without the official authority to carry them. Regardless of one’s concealed weapons status or legal right to own a gun, those weapons basically are “agency” weapons. You have to be credentialed and qualified to carry them.

Appreciate your reply.

This, though: OK, the Dep’t has a special deal with SIG = discounts on gun purchases. Fine. Do you mean to say this guy bought guns and resold them to his staff? Versus telling them “hey you can get a deal over here”....or handing them a “$100 off” coupon?? The difference obviously being, whether or not he (the chief) took possession. While I can only assume he wouldn’t be resigning if he had done nothing wrong, I can hardly believe he would have engaged in such a silly exercise. For what..a few grand? $600?

Proving that the drone they issued it to didn't need it.
