You can buy 22LR out there, if you want to pay 12-15 cents a round for it. You can buy 10,000 at that price.
My target is 5 cents a round. And, that is only the kind you can buy at WalMart if you happen to be there when they put it out on the shelf.
22 MRF is even more expensive....generally you can get all you want if you pay 30-50 cents a round... my target price is less than half that. Again, WalMart prices.
My personal belief is that it will never get back to those general price points. There’s just too much gun-grabbing actions going on, and there will be hoarding for these two calibers going on for quite some time.
A few months ago I was in Cabelas (Louisville) picking up some ammo of a different caliber. The sales guy told me that they had gotten in 100,000 rounds of 22LR, put it out on a Saturday and it was gone by noon.
Last week I sold a couple of bricks of mine to buy some 7.62x39. Irony? I sold 2K of 22LR and walked into my local gun shop and bought 1K 7.62x39. Exactly 2 for 1.
Anyway, the guy who bought mine said he just went to Cabelas and they sold out the 22LR they got in before the store opened. By that he meant that people were camped out at 5 am & when the store opened, the ammo was gone at once.
I sold a few bricks via armslist.com, some at 12¢ and some at 10¢ a round. Got a very nasty email calling me a gouger and a dirt bag, and more. Some very frustrated folks out there.
On another note, I got a mailing from the NRA saying come see Mitch (Harry’s Bitch) McConnell at an NRA sponsored pep rally for him. That really made me angry.
I just checked my .22 magnum hollow points....paid (many moons ago) $8.50 per box of 50 — haven’t fired one off in years.
Picked up 2K rounds at Gander two days ago...less than 5 cents a round.....4 Boxes 550 at 25 bucks each......
