As a five-alarm fire consumed an apartment building under construction in San Francisco's Mission Bay neighborhood, firefighters were able to save more than the nearby buildings.
About six dogs were recovered from around the neighborhood and adjacent evacuated structures and taken to an American Red Cross truck on Third Street.

Of course they historically had Dalmatians at the station for some reason.
Some cops have K-9s but the dog-human connection apparently hasn't been made.

Anyone remember back around 1978-80 when a large fire ravaged SF? While evacuating the buildings the firemen found dens of homosexuals chained to the walls. The firemen had to bring in chain cutting equipment to free them from the walls and get them away from the fire.
That story was immediately hushed up and no word of it was ever mentioned again.
Anyone else heard of it?
