Before long, New York’s Bill de Blasio will be a major embarrassment to Democrats

The election of Bill de Blasio as New York’s mayor was a dream comes true for America’s progressives. Not only has one of their own grabbed the top job in the country’s biggest city, but his Working Families Party has total (48/3) control of the City Council to support him.

There is now no progressive program de Blasio cannot put into place. He is limited only by his own imagination. Sure those “meanies” in Albany can throw a few road blocks in front of him and briefly stall his plans, but in the end he’ll get his way. The far Left is dancing around their campfires now; but before long de Blasio will become a major problem for Democrats and will douse those flames.

As the old expression goes, “Be careful...

I was just reading this morning that several of the mega-rich - whom NY depends on for charitable donations as well as taxes - have already left New York and more are thinking of following. They know he’s planning to put in even more punitive taxes, plus every other word out of his mouth is to demonize them.

Fortunately, they’re moving to Florida, so my state is going to get the benefit!

It’s a ridiculous article if the author thinks Democrats are going to be embarrassed by this guy. How silly.

NYC is a very delicateand complex system. It doesn’t take much tinkering to make a big mess or things. Giuliani whipped a broken city into shape, and while Nanny Bloomberg was an idiot, he kept the trains running on time. It will be fun to watch this chaos from a safe distance.

I always think of the saying in I Claudius, “Let all the poison’s in the mud hatch out”.

He meant it’s better to let the underlying liars and connivers be exposed. Once exposed the people should wake up and see them for who they are, tyrants, selfishly motivated.

Let the sun shine in.

Personally, I think NYC’ers think they can elect a monkey and they’d still get what they want with no personal cost to them. If everyone you meet on the street, at work, parties, everywhere there are Democrats, you must have a feeling of absolute power and assuredness. Nothing in Democratdom can harm you because you live in NYC......

The ones that really know what’s going on have left, or planning to leave, or just rise above it and keep their mouths shut quietly because of being outnumbered so badly.

Absolutely. After all, the Dems put Obama in the White House. Embarrassment is an undefined state for the Rats.

Everybody hates Bill de Blasio. Karl Marx wrote, “From each according to his abilities except for Bill de Blasio. I hate him.”

Hey, New Yorkers elected this guy and gave him and his control of the City Council. So whatever happens, whatever disasters befall this city, they asked for it. Screw 'em.

Yes, and please don't tell me about the ridiculously low turnout which elected him. Not voting is as much a statement as is voting.

I thought the new mayor had become an embarrassment already, by not snowplowing certain neighborhoods, banning horses & carriages from Central Park, etc. The best thing I can say about this guy is that he doesn’t post racy pictures of himself online, like one of his rivals did.

Sadly even most of NYC mega-rich are loony liberals (malnamed)“progressives”. When liberalism bites them in the fanny with high taxes & business strangling regulations, they sometimes retreat to more business friendly environs. But too often they take their brain-dead liberalism with them. They seem unable to separate their real experiences with liberalism (why they left NYC) from their long held emotional connections. So they too often “fowl their new nest” with their sad old liberalism. Such has happened in Colorado with fleeing California rich, New Hampshire maybe soon Florida and Texas (God forbid!). Rich liberals claim to be environmentalists, but are the economic equivalent to the Amazon slash and burn farmers. They destroy and move on, destroy and move on, destroy and move on… makes me wanna hate at least some of the (Obama lover) rich!

You beat me to it. Reminds me of the comment someone once made about a guy who could not be insulted. Democrats feel no shame, unless they violate Democrat shibboleths.

He has staffed his entire administration with political activists instead of experienced technocrats.

It’s like assembling a team of community organizers and then telling them to build you a battleship.

“Personally, I think NYC’ers think they can elect a monkey and they’d still get what they want with no personal cost to them.”

This is the problem of America today. People think freedom just “happens” and prosperity is the norm because we are “America”. They think when Rush mentions “American Exceptionalism” he is talking about how we are better than everyone else. But it is Reagan who is right - our privleges are not magic - they come from a superior culture of production and freedom, and we are never more than one generation away from slavery.

The uneducated Democrat voters will be the first to be astounded as their way of life slips away as they leave American philosophy behind. The good things just don’t “happen”.
