On Tuesday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel, Washington Post columnist George Will said supporters of President Barack Obama’s 2010 Affordable Care Act are bending over backward to justify the law’s expanding disaster, particularly Obama’s broken promise that consumers would be able to keep health insurance plans they like.
Will pointed to remarks from House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer earlier in the day, who said Obama should have “caveated” his promises made in selling Obamacare.
“As a result, the supporters of Obamacare are pioneering new dimensions of sophistry,” Will said. “Steny Hoyer, the second ranking Democrat in the House, today said the president should have caveated it. That’s a clunky verb.

“Sophistry” is just a succinct way of saying “insulting my intelligence.”
Alinsky had it right - ridicule is a powerful weapon. Names, in the sticks & stones sense, DO hurt in politics.

There ought to be a bronze statue of Joe Wilson, erected in front of the U.S. Capitol Building. It should serve as a reminder that our Founders intended for good men to be leaders within our government. They did not intend for deceitful, lying, "caveatters" to represent people.

I would love to see all Republicans boycott the next State of the Union address.
Its not sophistry but rather lies and propaganda. This regime is no different than the former soviet union in that regard.
Indications are that Will, along with other “conservative journalists,” was taken in by Obama back in 2008.
Why should anyone believe anything he says now?

Like blaming insurance companies for cancelled policies, instead of the law that forced them to do it?
This is no different than any other area concerning freedom or freedom of speech as defined by liberals. You are free to say anything you want...as long as it conforms to the liberal p.c. line.
Sophistry = Dishonesty (i.e.: LYING)

“Sophistry” is an elitist way of saying employing lies. If Mr Will would use the more commonly understood word instead of trying to dazzle us with his clever superiority, he might reach a larger audience.
