On this day, I make a pledge!
CSM Facebook ^ | October 1, 2013 | CSM

On this day, I make the pledge that when my employer drops my health insurance, I will not join the exchange. When the IRS fines me, I will not pay that fine! When that results in the IRS issuing a warrant for that fine, I will not comply! When they knock on my door to enforce the warrant, I will not answer! Eventually, they will kick in my door to enforce the warrant and at that time many will pay a heavy price! The "tolerant and compassionate left" must be willing to shoot me dead to enforce their utopian dreams!

The Government must always be willing to enforce their utopian ideas with the force of a gun and their confiscation of my physical being is a very bright line. I will pay a heavy price, but I am hopeful that price will be paid to the benefit of my progeny!

I will not succomb to slavery!

Unfortunately it looks like many FReepers are so terrified of government that they’ll quickly cave to whatever is demanded of them.

I thank God that I grew up poor. Hardship just doesn’t get me down.

The cost of my hospital birth was about $85.

1964 DOLLARS are worth upwards of $17.00.

So Hospital births today cost $1400?

Another way to look at it is the fact that it cost about 1 and a half week’s pay for my father who was a garbageman then.

Just underwithhold on your taxes, and don’t pay the Obama/Robert’s penaltax.

The IRS is not authorized to collect the penaltax; they are only authorized to reduce your tax refund in that amount.

They’ll just attach your wages. NOPE. They can do that and seize bank accounts and property for failure to pay income taxes, but not the Obama/Robert's penaltax. The IRS is only authorized to reduce one's income tax refund in that amount.

Looks like about $7000 baseline for the typical hospital birth these days.

“Be sure and have someone post here about your death from lead poisoning. Otherwise we will not know for sure how sincere you are.”

I’m sure it will make the news! Afterall, fighting for liberty is an “extremist” right wing position to the praetorian guard and they would love to showcase such lunacy!

“It will never get that far because the only way the Senate could get the Individual mandate passed is by stripped the power of the IRS to use any of their normal enforcement mechanisms to collect the fines/taxes. The only thing the IRS can do is send you a nasty letter every once in while saying, “You owe X dollars for unpaid Obamacare fines/taxes”. They can also take any overpayments or refunds due to pay toward the fines. But beyond that, nothing.”

Are you sure? I doubt that anyone knows what is contained in the 20,000 pages of new regs that have been issued so far!

“Let me just say this.... not at least carrying catastrophic health care insurance is just dumb... if you have any money at all that would be at risk.”

Those policies are being phased out as they do not conform to federal requirements!

Whew! I was worried that the law might change, however we all know from history that laws are static once passed! 20,000 pages of regulations so far and I’m sure none of it will be to make enforcement easier for the government goons!

“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.—”

It is our DUTY to resist.

The tax penalty fee for failure to have sufficient health insurance in 2014 (to be paid in 2014’s income tax filing in April of 2015) is $95 or 1% of your income, whichever is larger. The tax penalty (remember it is NOT a fine, according to the Supreme Court ruling, but a tax) increases to $695 or 2.5% of your income, whichever is larger, if you fail to get coverage in 2015.

While there is no criminal enforcement mechanism to collect the penalties in the law (so far), there are ways for the IRS to get their money through tax refund withholdings, Social Security withholding, etc. and/or add interest and additional fees to the unpaid penalties which they will eventually figure out how to collect.

I believe a great many people will engage in civil disobedience and just refuse to sign up for ObamaCare and wait for any consequences that may come their way. Emotions against ObamaCare are running high in the country right now but few will be willing to forfeit their freedom or their lives to resist it. Even though some may feel like they will have to fend off the IRS and the ObamaCare goons with guns, this will only happen at your peril, not theirs. Most sane people will choose to reluctantly pay the fine or sign-up for the insurance rather than risk imprisonment or death by gunfire.

When I was born in 1964 few people had health insurance. The cost of my hospital birth was about $85.

My wife had to be admitted into the local ER recently. She received no treatment, and only had her vital signs and personal information taken. For the most part, the ER visit was just a formality of admitting her as an overnight patient into the hospital.

We just got a $700 bill for 'service' rendered by the ER staff.
