US Attorney General Eric Holder warned Michigan legislators against passing two welfare reform bills. One bill would require welfare recipients to pass a drug test in order to receive benefits. Those who failed the test would be denied benefits. The other bill would require welfare recipients who are able to perform a minimum of community service in exchange for payments.
Holder characterized the bills as unconscionable intrusions on personal liberties and grossly inhumane. Forcing someone to perform community service in exchange for welfare violates the Constitutions ban on involuntary servitude. This nation fought a Civil War to free the Black man from slavery. I cannot sit by idly and allow a state to try to reestablish it under a so-called community service masquerade.
As for the drug test requirement, isnt it obvious that a person on drugs is disabled? Holder asked. Denying welfare benefits to the disabled is clearly inhumane. Should these bills be enacted Michigan must be prepared to face us in court because we will be filing an immediate injunction and asking for punitive damages.
if you missed any of this week's other semi-news/semi-satire posts you can find them at...

but the government can force us to buy insurance.
If there is an element of truth in this post, what is it? Without knowing what it is based on, I can’t really tell what’s the satire and what’s the truth.
Eric Holders daddy must not have ever had “the talk” with him because he clearly doesn’t know the difference:

on this site it loses some of its effect since so many post well before realizing it’s satire.
The bill would immediately cut welfare payments by 75%. THE FOREIGNER and WITHOLDER want to make sure these people are well nourished when they go pick up their CRACK CHECKS.
I call NOT satire!
I am split on this. On one hand, drug users should not be given benefits. On the other hand, I think it is their kids that would suffer. They already suffer from a drug abusing parent, starving them, through no fault of their own, is not a Christian thing to do.
Really, I have no solution on this matter.
Maybe put the kids in foster homes? Which are already too over crowded. I am really torn on this issue.
What I don’t understand is how it is involuntary servitude to force people to work for the money they get. What? If you don’t want to work don’t take the money.
Why is is not involuntary servitude to take the money I make and give it to someone else against my will?
Up is down and right is wrong in our society.
I agree
Caught it before I got to the second post this time.
You are horrible, in the very best way.
Damn...got me again!
