My mother got it and said the same thing.
If you lay down with roofers...
Thanks for the plug! As soon as I get the HSA debit card that my husband has been promising indefinitely, I plan to get the shingles shot. Our insurance doesn’t cover it, but I’m willing to pay to avoid it.
Sorry you had to go thru it. My neighbor had it and she was a mess for months. And months.
Since I had HORRIBLE chicken pox at age 13, I got the shot, though basically, I avoid drugs or shots or medicine for anything.
I agree with you. My mom suffered through it, but I don’t believe that you can get the shot until you are 60 years old.
My PCP just told me to get that shot.
I asked him how on earth this has become such a huge issue.
Very, interesting reply: because a vaccine has been invented, that’s how.
My om had shingles a few years ago, I had never seen her cry from physical pain.
Glad you are recovering.
I had it in my early 50's. My wife hasn't had it yet, but her employer is not covering it if you are under 60.
I’ve never known ANYONE who has or had the shingles. And just about everyone I know of has had the chickenpox.
Is it that prevalent that you need to worry about it?
My cousin got it and suffered for months. She said the pain was worse than childbirth. I went out and got the shot as soon as I could.
Been there, done that. Not fun. Plus, it can flare up repeatedly.
BTW, not everyone is a good candidate for the shot. At least they told me that I wouldn’t be. Can’t remember why; it’s been a while.
I had full blown chickenpox three times.
Can’t wait to see what happens if I got shingles.
I just had the vaccine..
My brother had it a few years ago. He was in severe pain with it.
I decided to get the shot, so I got it at Walgreens early this year. It cost about $200, but insurance paid $150.
I actually had Shingles back in the ‘70s... don’t remember much about it other than it was a pain.
Can I get it again? Just asking.
Makes me wonder,,,,, I never got the Pox. My Mom made me stay in my Sister’s room and play with her for days,,,,yuck! Had the mumps though. I have a feeling that I might still need the shot?
Anyone ever heard of contraindications to getting the shot if you did not have the pox? Would not want her to get something unwanted.
Our 27 year old son had them 3 months ago.....
I also got the pneumonia shot the same day.
It cost zero with Medicare, because it was covered under Part B, IIRC.
Here is the link to Children of God For Life’s vaccine chart that lists vaccines with aborted human baby cells, including the shingles vac: http://www.cogforlife.org/vaccineListOrigFormat.pdf
is this covered under obamacare? s/
