I agree with Volunteer...erm...I mean Volunbeer.

We’ve seen what purposeless does to people. I was almost beaten for being white when I was a teenager by a group of men that apparently stay in the welfare office seating area for hours at a time. In marveling in semi shock about how close I came to being mauled for no reason - I came to see a key reason why the welfare state is racist. We know that we need more than money to pay for food and shelter to live. Rich people ‘labor’ at charities or churches to give their lives meaning. We need to feel like we contribute. Implying that blacks, hispanics (or whites, for that matter) lack this basic need to contribute and can therefore be tended like gerbils in a cage empty of everything except food and water. Humans need purpose - it erodes our self-esteem to live partially and allow a tide to carry us onward. We need to paddle, sometimes we must paddle too hard but it ‘gets us’ somewhere. We need progress in our lives - that’s why we hate ‘dead ends’. And yes, according to my faith, I am to work at my job as if I were working for the Lord.
That said - i think that even if people don’t drop off the grid, I think they will ratchet down their productivity because I saw it first hand in the Soviet Union. If everyone in a factory gets paid the same, the over-achievers top over achieving.

Denninger is talking about a general strike.

While I sympathize with his goals, a general strike would be extremely hard to organize, it would have to last for weeks if not months to be effective, & it directly punishes the best part of this nation - the producers, even as the corruptocrats continue to live lavishly on the public teat. After month of strikes, many businesses will be out of business. Financial ruin & chaos for this country & the world is a possibility.

I think there is a better way. It has worked many times before in numerous countries: Massive, peaceful, long term demonstrations in Washington DC & every bastion of the welfare state.

Take the fight to the steps of the houses of tyranny. Fill WDC streets with protests, such that just getting to work is near impossible for the corruptocrats. Let the ruling class taste our anger EVERY DAY for as long as it takes to force mass resignations from them. Single out individual corruptocrats for scorn. Take it to their homes, their boat slips, everywhere they go they are accompanied by truckloads of peaceful, but determined protesters. Make these people so uncomfortable they don't want to be in WDC anymore.

If you are gonna quit your job or close your business to protest the growing tyranny, why sit at home & hope for the best, which may never occur? Why severely weaken the country, perhaps enabling even more tyranny?

Get in their faces in all their places until they squeal like the pigs they are. Fancy dinners in fancy restaurants are not so great when there are 1000 demonstrators just outside cursing your name. The restaurant owner might just ask you not to come back - you ruin his business.

It is better to take the fight directly to the enemy - the ruling class of Washington, DC. Make their lives so miserable for so long that they either resign or change their evil ways.

Patriots don't have to impoverish themselves, nor do they have to be violent; just determined & rock stubborn. Oh, & willing to spend months in WDC, though I think the pigs will start squealing almost immediately. Being uncomfortable is the thing they hate most. Sweat rings look especially bad on an expensive suit.

A million people protesting in front of the Capitol for weeks will get their attention - I guarantee it.

Yeah, I'm mad as hell at Scott for this special prosecutor business & no grand jury investigation.

But he may be devious. I doubt any competent, level headed prosecutor would have taken this case. Scott may have had a few refusals before he came to Corey.

Perhaps Scott figured only a Leftist ideologue like Corey would take the case despite the evidence & wind up looking like a corrupt fool, which she does. If he put Judge Nelson in for the same reason, it is a two-fer, while he can say to the race-baiters that he put in their team & they failed - not his fault.

But, even if this is so, Scott used GZ as a pawn in a political game. Shameful!

Starve the beast. We need a clean sheet of paper. The current gov’t is dysfunctional and unexecutable.

Roberts is an azz. He’s just another crony lawyer with a fancy black robe. He gets paid by the employer he is supposed to rule against. Fat chance. Not buying your garbage.

My Chinese-American friend observed that the US is just about the only country that has strikes exclusively against employers and not the government.

Well, there’s a first time for everything.

One possible reason for “no general strikes” is that, unfortunately most of the middle class of the US is two paychecks from being broke. Staying in debt keeps the slaves enslaved.

On the other extreme, Greece has an unemployment rate that would certainly cause mass insurrection in the US, but it doesn’t happen. This is because families and friends take care of one another. Just something to consider.

In all due respect, this article reminded me of Bernie de la Rionda’s closing argument the other day. It was all over the place.

That is just Karl being Karl. You never know where the next paragraph will take you, but you know it will be very entertaining and always enlightening.

Thx...I do like Karl Denninger usually. But I am rather tired from following the GZ case for the last few weeks.

If I erred, sorry bout that.

Sorry, but you can't strike against the government.

Sure, you can quit your job or close your business, but who exactly does that hurt? Certainly not Obama or Congress. They'll get their fat pay checks even as you eventually go broke. Even if they receive ZERO tax revenue they can print money forever, & you can be sure the corruptocrats will be the LAST people to suffer from a nationwide strike. Recall that they have NO problem with spending money they don't have on lavish parties, yet with no money for EPA water inspectors, they just might say, “no inspectors, no water for YOU”.

It's just common sense. You don't hurt your enemy by hurting yourself. You hurt the enemy by taking the battle to him, get in his face, & make him suffer. Corruptocrats are the enemy. They overwhelmingly live & lie/cheat/steal in WDC. Peaceful, patriotic Americans need to occupy that city & drive out the crooks & tyrants.

All this strike talk plays right into the hands of the Marxists, who believe society must be destroyed before it can be rebuilt in the Marxist mold. Crippling the economy is a direct path to tyranny, & weakens the very people who could lead this country back to freedom & prosperity - the producers. Isn't it obvious Obama is already trying to destroy the economy. Why help him?

Finally, if you think a nationwide strike would inconvenience Obama & Co., think again. Most gov't employees, Fed & state, are unionized - all for Obamunism. Most infrastructure is also unionized, as are most large cities. Those few closed businesses that are critical to catering the lavish parties can simply be ordered back to work by Presidential decree.

General strikes are just dumb.

The Greeks had numerous large strikes that did nothing to solve the problems of a country too deep in debt. Family support is important, but I suspect many Greeks are working for cash - off the books & avoiding taxes & work rules.

Isn't it pretty clear that Obama LIKES strikes, unemployment & welfare.

If the Founding Fathers were still alive everyone on the Government's side who was/is involved in this travesty would be swinging from a rope by now.

I know!

Instead a ‘general strike’ is recommended: how wimpy.

Don’t be distracted. The Federal government is going to use sleight of hand, to keep our attention focussed on riots and demonstrations like the ones in Oakland, San Francisco and elsewhere, to try and give Boehner and Cantor breathing room to force amnesty for illegal aliens down our throats. DON’T LET THEM DO THIS!!
