Egypt's New Proposed Constitution: More Sharia

The new constitutional road map issued this week by Egypt's interim president Adly Mansour is based on more sharia, the most brual and extreme legal system on the face of the earth.

Really? More sharia? That's like prescribing more cancer for a terminal cancer patient.

The "cure" is separation of mosque and state. It is the only way forward.

"Mama Mia, More Sharia in Egypt" Andrew Bostom, American Thinker, July 11, 2013

Egypt's Coptic community is alarmed over the constitutional road map issued on Monday by interim president Adly Mansour. The Sharia closed circle that has stifled Egypt's efforts since the 1820s to produce a pluralistic society based upon a secular consensus has not been defeated.

A Coptic activist group, Egypt's Maspero Youth Union -- named after the brutal Maspero massacre, during which the Egyptian military targeted and killed dozens of Coptic Christians, and injured some 300 -- responded with understandable anguish to the declaration by interim president Adly Mansour. The Maspero Youth Union characterized as "shocking," the 33-article document, which outlines the roadmap for the transitional period anticipated to last six months.

The declaration's first article combines Articles 1, 2 and 219 of the suspended constitution -- article 219 having been added by avowed Muslim Sharia supremacists to clarify the meaning of "principles of Islamic sharia" mentioned in the second article. Here are the aforementioned articles from Egypt's recently suspended Constitution, which, it should be noted, had been approved, just this past December, 2012, by a total of 64.0% of Egyptians, (10,543,893/16,472,241), including 67.5% (162,231/240,224) of Egyptian expatriates.

Article 1: The Arab Republic of Egypt is an independent sovereign state, united and indivisible, its system democratic. The Egyptian people are part of the

Why do you think that obama wanted morsi thrown out? He just wasn’t militant enough to impose sharia law!

This isn’t America we are talking about here; this is Egypt. Anyone who thinks the 12 million Egyptians who ran out into their streets to kill people who wanted to force Sharia on them will smile and say “Oh okay; more Sharia that’s fine where do we sign?” is fooling himself. Never happened.

Yep. I have a hunch Egypt tossed out Morsi because he and his cronies did nothing to alleviate that country's disastrous economic troubles. Getting rid of the Muslim Brotherhood suddenly turns out to be worth ±$8 billion in charity from other countries, the U.S. included.

Most unfortunately for Egypt, more charity will only prolong the descent into national failure and hunger. A nation that can't and won't take the necessary steps to feed itself will most probably devour itself.

If I were a Coptic Christian, I'd get the [fill in the blank] out.

Ginsburg said she would advise them “not to use the US constitution as a model”. She complains it’s too old and praises the constitution of South Africa.
