Former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has offered up two contradictory explanations why there was no military operation to rescue U.S. officials who were under attack in Benghazi on September 11, 2012.
During an October 2012 press briefing, Panetta claimed he was lacking real-time information at the time, and as a result of not having this information, he felt he couldn't send the FAST platoons, and other forces that were deployed in the region, into "harm's way" in "that situation". Hence, he made the decision not to send the forces to Benghazi.
However, during a hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee in February of 2013, Panetta offered up a different excuse [prevarication]: There was no conscious decision, on his part, not to send forces to Benghazi into "harm's way". But rather, the reason why U.S. forces did not head out to Benghazi was because the attack at the U.S. consulate had ended before they could get off the ground. And, Panetta added, there was no reason to assume that the CIA annex would later come under attack - despite the fact that there were two attacks on the annex, more than four hours apart.

Here's the real explanation; "Obama, Panetta, and Clinton are cowards incapable of making any decision or taking any action to defend America and Americans."
Maybe. Here is another possibility: Stevens was supposed to be taken alive, giving obastard an excuse to trade the blind sheik for him.
The explanation I think happened but they cannot admit: Obama had to go to a fund-raiser next day and the orders were “Do not disturb under any circumstances”. Since only he could order a cross-border response, he was not disturbed and it was not authorized. That simple!

Somebody needs to write a song about Benghazi. Title it BLOOD ON THE MACHINEGUN and contrast those two heroes to our brave President who had to get his beauty sleep for that important Democrat fundraiser.

The Libya —> Turkey —> Syria arms smuggling operation was the cornerstone of a major Obama initiative to topple Syria. The op was covert, and since Congressionally approved funds wouldn’t be required, they needn’t have been apprised —juuust how he likes things:
A rescue mission would have shed higher attention on all this spookiness. I mean, come on Khaddaffi had 21,000 MANPADS floating around the country —the man remembered how Reagan took care of biz, right? So as far as anti-air assets were concerned the place was loaded to the gills with ‘em.
So the notion of all this coming out was scary. I mean....he’s Mr. Hope And Change, ‘nome sayin’...?

Little known detail: The guys who raced via charter jet to Bengazi to respond took off wearing uniforms. But in transit that fact was communicated up the chain to command, and for reasons that remain unclear command REALLY HATED THAT. They ordered that they divert, change OUT of uniform, and then resume the mission in dress that technically was “non military”.
They later reported that this diversion and change of clothes took over 90 minutes.
NINETY MINUTES TO CHANGE CLOTHES WHILE BULLETS WERE FLYING.
