I am a disabled combat veteran. I served in Iraq and worked in Afghanistan. I took an IED because my country asked me too, and I was injured by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan. I have a Purple Heart and an ARCOM with Valor. I fully expect to be treated differently when I am visiting another country - when I am in America I expect equality and toleration; but what I experienced today is something that I never would have thought I'd have to go through in my own country. The country I fought for!
I am a skydiver with around 300 jumps under my belt. I've done jumps from 30,000 feet, helicopters, hot air balloons, wingsuit skydives and so forth. So with that being said I travel around doing this sport quite a bit. Today was my second time at a dropzone called "Florida Skydiving Center / Skydive Lake Wales".
Coincidentally there are soldiers from the country of Qatar being trained there.
The picture is of the tattoo I have. Here is the definition of said tattoo: "Kafir (Arabic: كافر kāfir, plural كفّار kuffār) is an Arabic term used in an Islamic doctrinal sense, usually translated as "unbeliever," "disbeliever," or "infidel." The term refers to a person who rejects God or who hides, denies, or covers the "truth." The Muslim's from Qatar saw that tattoo and complained to the dropzone. Once they did so I was called to the back office and asked to cover it up by the OWNER. Not that I would, but its 80 something degrees here today, and that would be an unreasonable request. After I told her that I had no pants to cover it up she told me that she has DUCT TAPE that I can use to cover it.

I would tell her that I will agree to a stripe of duct tape, when she dons a burka.
I’m stuck on; Why did you tat THAT, Ed ?
the things ya see when ya ain’t got yer 12 ga.
“...when I am in America I expect equality and toleration...”
As a Vet myself, I say, ‘Good Luck with that.’
YOYO. (You’re On Your Own.) We all are. It’s a Whole New World out there.
According to the left(Democrats, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, CNN, PBS) most US soldiers are baby killers and need to to be tried as war criminals. That’s a fact jack.
Let them know how you feel about this vet’s treatment:

I came into the military back in the late 70’s...when tattoos were still mostly a Navy thing, and kinda rare. By the late 1990s...there was some mad rush by all the enlisted to have umpteen different tattoos on their body. I had some female airman who wanted to explain the significance of twelve different tattoos on herself. I stopped her at number one and just made it clear....I frankly....don’t care. My entire generation got around pretty effortlessly without the necessity of expressing myself with skin-art or skin-words. Not to slam any of the tattoos or their believers....but it’s become like some boy scout game with merit badges.
I had the pleasure of walking through some grocery store about four years ago, and having some lady standing there in line with fairly obscene tattoo....very distinctive in terms of body detail...and having no issue in walking around in public with this on her back. She clearly wanted it to be seen. I guess it’s all personal taste or the desire to take things to the limit...but frankly, I’m just not buying into this business.

They are worth more money to the school than this one guy.
This is the real world he could not wear a muslims suck tattoo in a major corporation either.
I would take that duct tape and get busy taping some parachutes SHUT...
“Coincidentally there are soldiers from the country of Qatar being trained there.”
We need to bring people from half way around the world to Florida learn how to skydive? For that matter, what EXACTLY do we need to bring them here to train for anyway? And who the hell is paying for all this?
Never mind, I can guess.
Qatar is a major oil and natural gas exporter, and has the highest GDP per capita in the world. Its government pays the bills and sets the editorial tone for al Jazeera.
Since when have vets become such whiners? He needs to suck it up, move on, and stop blogging about his hurt feelings.
Whatever happened to girls' names, or MOM, or hearts and dragons ?
Don’t let them bully you. Together, we are a huge multitude. ‘When they came for the guys with ‘Kafir’ tattoos, I didn’t do anything because I did not have one.’
That's actually the idea behind complaining on Facebook. To get that company to the point where it's 100% dependent on Qatari business, because no self-respecting American will do business with it.
I sent my email indicating she should have told the Moslem there is freedom of speech in the US.
I didn’t know you are a veteran, Diana. Me too, albeit JAG when there were no wars, so I don’t brag about it.
