In case you havent been keeping up with Sebastian and Bitter, the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show decided to cave to the sudden anti-gun political pressure and prohibit exhibitors from displaying any politically-incorrect rifles or equipment:
As a hunting-focused event, we welcome exhibitors who wish to showcase products and firearms that serve the traditional needs of the sport. Clearly, we strongly support the 2nd Amendment. However, this year we have made the decision not to include certain products that in the current climate may attract negative attention that would distract from the strong focus on hunting and fishing at this family-oriented event and possibly disrupt the broader positive experience of our guests.
I suppose this wasnt unexpected. In the past, the anti-freedom coalition has managed to drive a wedge between us by claiming to not be threatening the guns of sportsmen and hunters. Sadly, this was historically not only effective on individuals, but companies as well. Its a matter of record that the arbitrary 10 round magazine limit was originally suggested by Bill Ruger (as 15 rounds) to compromise his main competition, the Glock 17, while leaving his 15 round P85 safe. Colt also neutered their AR-15s in a vain attempt to forestall any bans. And how many of our own have voted for Democrats in the hope that their guns will get banned last?
What I did not expect was the breadth and depth of the resulting boycott. Exhibitors of all stripes have been falling all over themselves to withdraw from the event. I honestly wonder what there will be left to see at the show.
But post-Zumbo, in the age of the Internet and true grassroots feedback, not only have the firearms companies held strong together, probably losing some sales money in the process, but so have Cabelas and other sporting goods retailers, bowhunting suppliers and even the bass boat people have chosen to stand with us.
This isnt the time to get cocky, but do not let the opposition get you down either. The strength of the NRA and the pro-freedom coalition is not that we have the guns, but that we have numbers, and are supposed by real, flesh and blood people. The opposition is supported only by government bureaucrats, Joyce fund money and their pathetic lackeys and fanclub. We can defeat them, but we must remain engaged until the end.
And above all, do not tolerate any Quisling or backstabbing.
Dont ever take sides against the family again. Ever.
But the big difference was the revolution of 1994, when the Republicans took the House and the Senate for the first time in 40 years. The legislators still fear that, and they know that the MSM cannot protect them. On the other hand, they fear what the MSM can do to them.
Only G and PG rated weapons. No R or NC17 weapons allowed this year.
Somebody ought to set up a table with the heading “Government Approved Self-Defense & Hunting Weapons” and display rocks, sticks and lassos.
We'll see how much of this crazy's proposals become law.
p.s. Deval is also proposing an insane $2.8B increase in state taxes to give to government unions.
Vote with your feet brother before it’s too late.
God bless you for trying mightily to make a go of it in MA, but are you not fast approaching a point when it’s time to scoot on out of there?
Now, black rifles and tactical guns are mainstream. Ordinary sporting goods retail stores (Walmart, Academy) stocked them - until the last few weeks.
