1) Stockpile food
2) Buy a rifle, a handgun, and a minimum of 2K round for each
3) Time is a resource; use it to become politically active within your community, and then grow that movement across your state.
Last night I was talking with our neighbor who is an independent consultant of some sort. He does VERY well financially.
Yesterday he fired his personal accountant because the accountant voted for Obama. He said he has an appointment next week with his Lawyer and if he suspects he, too, voted for jug ears, he’s gone too.
He is checking his doctor, dentist, hair dresser, cable co, wireless co and every other business he uses and will cut ties to as many obama/dem supporters as he can.
He was really on a roll last night...I’d be banned for life if I posted what he called Obama.
I agree I am done helping others. If I am forced to feed, clothe, buy contraception, and phones for my neighbors, I see no reason I should voluntarily do more.
My response to anyone asking for my money will be ‘ask Obama’.
I bet all the panhandlers in big cities were driven to the polls with their ballots pre-filled. Hope that puts food in their bellies and roof over their heads.
Pork and beans. Canned and by the case.
Water filtration systems, ammo (get some airguns too; for those of you not used to eating squirrel, prepare to get used to it because price of meat is going to skyrocket) medical supplies.
I don't anticipate some kind of doomsday scenario, rather those items being restricted to the point of inaccessability, so lay in what you can, while you can.
Our slow, depressed, monotonous slide (accelerating now) into a weak, taxed, tyrranized banana republic continues.
I hate to say it but I am now siding with Mr. Scrooge’s attitude, “Are there no prison’s?”
I’m actually thinking about making a sign for the exit-ramp beggars: “I paid my taxes, go ask Obama for help.”
My goodwill and charity have been spent. But then I stopped donating to the the United Way after their row about not wanting to support the boy scouts. I have no use for those who have systematically destroyed this country and are now hell bent on looting anything left of it.
I have avoided the United Way EVERY time it’s been put in front of me. I will ALWAYS determine where, when, and to whom I will make charitable donations. I don’t need some bureaucratic ‘mini-me’ hitting me up for money, and then distributing it without my advice or consent.
Nope...count me out on the United Way scam.
In Fiscal Year 2011, the federal government collected $2.303 trillion in tax revenue. Interest on the debt that year totaled $454.4 billion, and mandatory spending totaled $2,025 billion. In sum, mandatory spending plus debt interest totaled $2.479 trillion exceeding total revenue by $176.4 billion.
For Fiscal Year 2012 which just ended 37 days ago, that shortfall increased 43% to $251.8 billion.
In other words, they could cut the entirety of the Federal Governments discretionary budget no more military, SEC, FBI, EPA, TSA, DHS, IRS, etc. and they would still be in the hole by a quarter of a trillion dollars.
The US government is legally bound to spend more money on mandatory entitlements and interest than it can raise in tax revenue. It wont make a difference how high they raise taxes, or even if they cut everything else that remains in government as we know it.

“If you look at the numbers and the way pure democracy works, pure democracy is dangerous. The majority dictates against the minority. Right now the majority are receiving a check. That is why people were sort of surprised with these conditions that the president could get reelected. That is a bad sign in that there are more on the receiving end.
People do not want anything cut. They want all the bailouts to come. They want the Fed to keep printing money. They do not believe we of gone off the cliff or are close to going off the cliff. They think we can patch it over, that we can somehow come up with a magic solution. You cannot have a budgetary solution if you do not change what the role of government should be. As long as you think we have to please the world and run this welfare state, all we will argue about is who will get the loot. “
Ron Paul
Doesn’t matter about Obama, don’t give to international charities period. The tooth to tail ratio on their charitable spending is horrible and international relief organizations have been scammed for years.
Donate to the Salvation army, or Disabled American Veterans.
Charity organizers should not be a lucrative job.
Buy hard assets, useful commodities and productive resources to help sustain you and your family.
I, too, am taking the Galt route. But in terms of discretionary spending, I will make one exception: I will continue to give money to those organizations which help homeless pets. Dogs and cats are true victims and need our help.
WOO-HOO! Take the pledge! It is time for CONSERVATIVES and CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIANS to take care of their own!
I stopped giving to the Red Cross after 9/11 when we realized they diverted the funds and I looked at their executive salaries.
My funds from here on out are for my family.
Maybe Obama can mandate we give to the United Homo Way? The SCOTUS says they can mandate how we spend our money after all
I got a printout many years ago of UW charities. Shocking waste. One was a group that sponsored unwed mothers to send them on two-week vacations in the Caribbean, giving them a "well-deserved" rest from the stress of single parenthood. That was the day I started to research and donate to groups of MY choice.
Please, do your own research and pick an organization where your dollars have even a remote chance of actually going to the needy. Church groups are far better at helping the poor. Support them.
Per my tagline I have been “living lik no one else” to become debt free. I am only a few weeks from paying off my mortgage and as a result had started putting together a list of major projects and purchases. I was originally planning to spend about $48K over the next 2 years!
I am re-evaluating that list as we speak and can probably minimize that to $5K or less. If I can find a used laptop and a used couch, then I can get it even lower. Regretfully, I have to do a front porch repair that could run some significant change, but it is required to keep the city off my back!
