Some scoff at the idea that Mitt Romney might carry Minnesota, but actions speak louder than words. Both Bill Clinton and Paul Ryan campaigned in Minnesota today. This morning, I put out a call to Power Line readers who attended the Ryan event to send me photos and accounts of the rally. The results were overwhelming; I can post only a tiny fraction of the photos we got, but thanks to all who responded; all of you contributed to what follows.
The event took place at a Sun Country hangar near the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport. The crowd started to gather hours before the rally was scheduled to begin. This photo shows a few of the thousands of people who were backed up trying to get into the airplane hangar:
Here is another one: the crush to get in was remarkable:
The hangar filled up long before Ryan was scheduled to arrive, and at some point, the fire marshal or some such authority insisted that they stop letting people in. You can see how crowded the hangar was, long before Ryan arrived or anyone else started speaking:
These guys had the right idea:
The most remarkable thing to me is that after they closed the event because the hangar was full, thousands of people refused to leave, but waited outside for Ryans arrival:
While the crowd inside waited for Ryan, all four Minnesota Republican CongressmenJohn Kline, Michele Bachmann, Erik Paulsen and Chip Cravaackwarmed up the crowd. Bill Clinton made a small-bore appearance today in St. Cloud, which is in Micheles district, ostensibly campaigning for her opponent. But Michele knew where the action was. Our readers say she was great:
When Ryans airplane landed, the crowd went nuts:
Here are some of the thousands of people who couldnt get in, but waited outside the hangar to cheer Ryans arrival:
One of our correspondents must have had special access to get this cute shot of two of the Ryan children exiting the airplane:
Here are Paul Ryan and his wife Janna on the way to the hangar:
And Ryan speaking:
Another, from farther back in the crowd:
Ryans message was essentially the same one we have been hearing from Mitt Romney: optimistic themes of change, inclusion, and confidence that with the right leadership, America can escape from the disaster of the Obama years. Barack Obama cant put on this kind of rally, and his supporters cant match this level of enthusiasm, because they know his administration is a failure. Obama desperately tries to hang on to power with a petty, small-minded campaign. Trillions of dollars in federal spending will buy a lot of votes, but, lets hope, not enough to overcome the idealism and energy of the Romney-Ryan campaign.
If you sent photos that you think are better than the ones I posted, you may well be right. Thanks to all who contributed!
Take a look at the pic of Janna. She knows something, and it is good. That is not fake.
They are a beautiful couple! Janna is beaming!
Lord, forgive me.
Janna is smoking hot in that picture.
I hope that was only a venal sin.
Those are really nice to see.
I would not have expected anything of the sort from minnesota.

FWIW — I tried to go to the rally today with my family, had tickets ahead of time. Was got there about an hour ahead of time and was told I couldn’t get inside — had to stand outside the hanger. Crowd inside was I think around 10,000, and at least a few thousand more of us stood outside in the cold. I know it’s just anectdotal — but MN could be close at least, though I’d be very shocked if we won this state.
I’d be shocked too, no doubt.
But you know I was watching Romney this evening delivering remarks from somewhere, ah yes it was Virginia, and this man by the words he said broughts tears of love for America to my eyes.
I am so astonished by this, I was quite anti Romney even as soon as this year, however, he is not the man whose picture was painted for me by someone else. He is a patriot, and I love him for it. We may not see eye to eye on every thing, but there is something special about this man.
I thanks God for Mitt Romney. May he along with us save this beautiful country from President Revenge, Zer0, and his minions who are without souls.

Sarah Palin has finally been upstaged.
Cheers!
Venal sin is when you stick heroin in your veins. But say 4 Hail Mary's and an Our Father anyway for coveting thy neighbors wife..
I just did..... :-}
Just glad Ryan doesn’t live next door to me !!!
Paul Ryan is a ‘HUNTER’ and so is much of my state, Pennsylvania and I believe Minnesota is Hunting territory also...
way to go...
