President Barack Obama said he thinks Muslim protests against Western criticism of Islam are natural.
The natural protests that arose because of the outrage over the video were used as an excuse by extremists to see if they can also directly harm U.S. interests, Obama said during an hour-long town-hall interview on the Spanish-language Univision channel.
Obama did not use the interview to champion the right of Americans to speak freely amid criticism and threats from Islamic advocates.
He did briefly mention free-speech, saying that democracy also includes looking out for minority rights respecting freedom of speech [and] treating women fairly.
Obama and his deputies have said the protests and attacks were not spurred by their post-2008 policy of deposing autocracies and boosting Islamist political parties.
Instead, they blame the continuing upsurge of protests and attacks against American and European embassies on a low-budget, California-made YouTube video that satirizes and blasphemes Islams primary prophet Muhammad.
What weve seen over the last week, week and a half, is something that actually weve seen in the past, where there is an offensive video or cartoon directed at the prophet Muhammad, he said. This is used as an excuse by some to carry out inexcusable violent acts directed at Westerners or Americans.
Muslims say Muhammad is Allahs last prophet, and superseded Jesus, who they also claim to be a Muslim prophet. Any criticism of Muhammad or Allah, they say, is blasphemy.
The video blamed by Obama was released by July.
In early September, it was broadcast in Egypt by an Islamist TV station that was seeking to spur protests against the U.S. embassy in Cairo.
The Cairo embassy protesters were organized by a small Islamist group seeking the release of Omar Abdel-Rahman, the so-called Blind Sheikh, who was jailed by the United States government in 1995 for organizing jihad attacks in New York.
Since the Sept. 11 attacks and protests, competing Islamist parties and politicians including politicians in the Egyptian, Turkish, Iranian, Pakistani and Sudanese governments have called for curbs on Americans free speech rights to bar criticism of Islam.
These populist calls are apparently popular, partly because many Arabs and Muslims blame Americans for their countries poverty.
Well, he sort of has a point. After all, attacking innocents is natural to Islam.
For a self-proclaimed Christian he sure spends a lot of time and energy as a Muslim apologist.
Further I have never had any Christian I know say the sweetest sound he’s ever heard was the muslim wail to prayer.
So, naturally, you obliged them by directly harming the U.S..
US spends $70,000 on Pakistan ad denouncing anti-Muslim film (Obama's apology tour continues)
I noticed this as well.
Only a foreign perspective would see violent riots and murder as a “natural” outcome of a wannabe movie (there’s only a trailer and not a full movie apparently) on youtube as anything to even consider.
The U.S. funded Muslim Brotherhood put it on Egyptian TV and promoted the riots until Obama called them (and promised what?) and began the Cairo riots several months after it was on youtube and just in time for 9/11.
Also notice Obama refers to the video as offensive to the “Prophet Mohammed.”
??
Not the religious leader or found of Muslim faith but as a prophet.
What Christian believes Mohammed is a prophet at all? His teachings contradict those of the Christian faith so if he’s a prophet he’s a false prophet.
Yet Obama uses this reverential description of Mohammed.
Piss be upon him.
“And I consider it part of my responsibility as President of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear.”

Libyan Rebel Commander: I Was on the Mavi Marmara
I bet the family and friends of that ambassador who was horrifically tortured and raped before he was murdered is happy to hear this.
Ironically, they probably WILL vote for Ubama's re-election.
White House radicals used a video posted at Youtube as an excuse, throwing up doubts about the first amendment in order to deflect blame for being caught flat-footed with the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya even denying it was a terror attack for 10 days. They also cast aspersions onto Mitt Romney, his Republican challenger for decrying their lack of an immediate response to the murder of the US Ambassador and three others- especially an apology issued from the embassy in Cairo after it was also besieged.
A unified front against free speech has been waged for more than a week for the sole purpose of giving President Barack Obama a scapegoat to distract the public from his foreign policy failures, including having little-if any- security at the consulate in Libya.
The most frightening aspect of this is that while the President knew this was all political cover, most of those who took his side actually mean it. The liberal side in American politics are more than willing to void the greatest freedoms this country has, for some political points.
***it was broadcast in Egypt by an Islamist TV station***
Then shouldn’t the mob be attacking this Egyptian TV station that broadcasted it?
The film, made in America, was aired by a Salafist (more extreme than the Muslim Brotherhood) leader to show how the Americans were insulting the Prophet. Word of what the Americans had done was then spread to incite the Cairo embassy protest/riot. It had already been on U Tube for a couple of months, apparently put on there by it’s maker, “Sam Basile”, the Copt. Since attention was called to it, it has now inspired Islamic leaders around the world to incite protests/riots. The Libya consulate attack and murders apparently have been associated with the movie protests since they happened at the same time (911 anniversary), but Al quaeda types have been promising something like that for a while.....
I am sure Zero still urinates in his own bed, so, it is natural... urine, that is.
