The NARAL Pro-Choice America organization lashed out at the film October Baby for its message and methods.
Movie-goers need to be aware that this film is out-of-step with mainstream America, NARAL spokesperson Adora Slaughter contended. It implies that carrying a baby to term is THE right choice. It conceals the fact that one-in-four pregnancies is terminated by abortion. The notion that one-in-four women might be making the wrong choice flies in the face of Secretary Sebelius determination that women have the right to make this choice and that insurers must cover it regardless of any psuedo conscientious objections.
On top of the films heavy-handed propaganda, the producers are donating a portion of the profits to fund crisis pregnancy centers, Slaughter added. Cleverly named so as to attract those whose pregnancies pose a problem, rather than helping these women dispose of the problem, these crisis centers seek to divert womens choices toward the pro-life option.
So, here we have an unbalanced, one-sided message in the film that portrays the choice not to abort as somehow morally superior to a decision to terminate a pregnancydespite the fact that protecting a womans right to choose has been the law of the land for nearly 40 years, Slaughter complained. Then the proceeds from ticket sales are dishonestly compounding the offense by covertly financing a point of view with which many theater patrons may disagree.

Entirely predictable response. Must be striking a nerve.
Perfect, John, perfect!
NOW...you JUST made me want to go see this. I wasn´t sure, but if it gets their panties in a wade over there at the NARAL it has to be a movie of merit.

lol.
I bet that is exactly what they think.
Brilliant, John! I came within a decimal point of falling for it.
Fooled me again, until I looked at the headings a second time. I was just about to say that the NARAL spokesperson, Adora Slaughter, was well named.
You can't make this stuff up.
As usual NARAL is all wet. Their assessment of the film is misleading. The film doesn’t say any of those things.
The film really is more about adoption and whether and when the adoptee should be told about his/her birth parents. Whether he/she should re-connect with the birth parents. The family dynamic.
The circumstances of the girl’s birth (failed abortion) really plays a minor element in this film, EXCEPT that she has suffered some medical consequences from the attempted abortion. And SHOCK! She finds that she had a twin brother who did NOT survive.
The really strong story line here is her supportive group of friends and her adoptive parents who help her deal with all of her emotions. It is a very good film, and I highly recommend it.
October Baby is said to be a good life-affirming movie.
NARAL’s response: “KILL IT! KILL IT! KILL IT!”
It seems that the term “crazy bitches” can be quite fairly applied to the members of NARAL.
Dang! I suspected it was satire, but it is so true to life to what liberals would say, I disregarded the link! :|
