This is the heart of my uneasiness with the remaining candidates. They talk the tough conservative talk but once they’re governing, they are too eager to compromise in hopes of getting the Washington Post off their backs. I wish there was a consistent conservative in the running.

And I was pointing out their hypocrisy and sycophancy.

If you don't like that, then you will just have to get over it. Your need to control everyone else’s thoughts and opinions on this forum, along with your repeated, nasty and very personal attacks, when you don't agree with them precedes you.

You point out the sliver in your brother's eye and fail to see the log in your own.

I have seen you bend over backwards to defend Newt. Pot, Kettle, black. And it is pretty pathetic to belittle a very good post about a man's family. But you reveal your own poor nature in doing such.

You are the last person on FR with any standing to lecture the Santorum camp about their beliefs and tactics.

Ah, so because I think it's counterproductive for the Newt and Santorum camps to form circular firing squads, I have a need to control everyone else's thoughts.

Tell me - why hasn't ONE Newt supporter answered my challenge to provide the source for the headline quote? Or backed away from this article as a liberal hatchet job because there is no source?

I'll tell you why - both sides have gotten so wrapped up in this food fight that they are willing to uncritically use any source in their zeal to attack the other conservative candidate. Yesterday someone was apparently citing CREW, for goodness sakes.

You yourself posted a list attacking Santorum's votes with no links for people to be able to research the veracity of those claims. Doughty One researched one of the claims and found it completely misleading.

If pointing out how utterly counterproductive that is for the conservative movement makes me a control freak, well, I'm guilty as charged.

You may now resume wallowing in the mud of your personal political pig pen. Mitt Romney enjoys the spectacle.

And, BTW, I'm voting Newt in the PA primary. But that doesn't mean I think it is OK to tear down Santorum.

The headline is a quote. A QUOTE. Show me the source for that quote.

Hint - none is given. It was journalistic slight-of-hand. And FReepers are falling for it, folks who should know better. Heck, you are citing a RINO active in Planned Parenthood - a GOP-E pro-abort type who probably hates Santorum as much as Philly libs do - as if that unnamed source has any impartiality?

Gawd, man, step back from the abyss.

1995, Rick Santorum: “I was basically pro-choice all my life, until I ran for Congress. But it had never been something I thought about.”

“So why did you change?”

RS: “I sat down and read the literature. Scientific literature.”

“So religion had nothing to do with it?”

RS: “Oh, well, of course. And religion too. It was both of those, science and religion.”

Show me the source in this article for Santorum's quote. No mention of who he said this to, such as an editorial board.

Why don’t you ask Santorum himself?

When Karen announced to Dr. Allen, the abortionist doctor with whom she lived for seven years 1982-1989, that she met a new guy Rick Santorum, and she was moving out, she told him that Rick was “pro-choice”:

Dr Allen told the Philadelphia City paper in 2005: ‘When she moved out to go be with Rick, she told me I’d like him, that he was pro-choice and a humanist.’

Think we’ll have one on Santorum’s history on jobs, taxes, government spending, spending cuts and judges, any time soon?

You are citing a second-hand source, and someone with a couple of reasons to trash pro-life Rick Santorum.

The headline of this article is a quote. That means there should be a source. None is given. That should set off alarm bells in any FReeper who has been here for any length of time. Yet not one Newt supporter has been willing to admit that this article stinks like the liberal hatchet job it is. Sorry, but that is not a reflection on Santorum - but YOU.

It's called a second-hand source. From a guy with two reasons to dislike Rick Santorum - Santorum being an effective pro-lifer and Santorum taking Karen away from him. Yet you are willing to give it veracity?

2005, BTW, was when the liberal attack machine was gearing up against Santorum.

That’s essentially the problem with legislators as Presidential candidates. If you are in Congress long enough, you have essentially voted on BOTH sides of every issue. You’ve voted to increase taxes, and to decrease taxes. You’ve voted to increase government spending on Monday, then you voted to decrease government spending on Tuesday.

There’s a reason why Republican presidential winners tend to be Governors. Executive experience trumps mushy legislators. That’s why Romney, despite his middling record, is still in this race.

That illustrates my biggest point all along, the EPIC hypocrisy of the Santorum worshipers, condemning Newt for every aspect of his past, without forgiveness, giving Santorum total sainthood and refusing to even consider that Santorum is capable of sin.

And when we point out Santorum’s past and discrepancies, we are duly attacked, condemned and ridiculed by Santorum’s cult following.

That pretty much sums it up.........

Karen Santorum isn't running for office.

And you've already shown what you are about - you're OK with the big lie headline as long as it furthers your agenda of trashing the GOP.

The issue I raised was that there was no source for the headline quote. You, alone among those trumpeting it on this thread, have admitted it is not sourced. But to your own shame, you admit you don't care.

“Was Santorum’s wife living with the Abortionist doctor who delivered her?

YES or NO.”

Yes. Karen Garver lived through most of her 20ies in a relationship with Tom Allen, a Pittsburgh obstetrician and abortion provider 40 years older than she. Karen’s father was a pediatrician and many of his patients were referred to him by Allen. Karen Garver left Tom Allen in 1989, after meeting Rick Santorum.

So tell us - after you have regurgitated a left-wing line of attack on Rick Santorum - what does that prove?

Nothing of importance. All you are doing is throwing mud at Santorum's wife, who now indulges in such conservative activities as raising a family and home-schooling them.

One can easily make a positive case that Newt would be a better leader than Santorum, given Newt's leadership role in the 1990s. I belive that myself and plan on voting for Newt.

Instead, you are rolling like a dog on a fresh turd on these liberal hatchet jobs. If someone posted someting from a similar source about Newt, you'd be yelling to high heaven, and for good reason. But since it's against the other guy, you are pushing it yourself.

Here are two sources among several.....Is it a liberal source? Yes it is. Did you expect the Santorum campaign to go out of their way to look into Santorum’s past? NO!

Does the source make it a lie? Not really! Because they are open to slander among several issues. But the truth is where you find it, once you take the time to look. And in comparison, lots and lots of anti Gingrich articles have been posted here from similar sources.

Oh, spare me. The MSM lies about conservatives with impunity, and you know better.

Make the case why Newt is better than Santorum. I belive that myself.

However, the 2005 attacks against Santorum were part of an orchestrated Dem attack on him to peel away his support by pro-life Dems, since that was vital to Santorum's forumla for winning statewide in PA. I know, I live here. I know the trash sources being cited. You should read City Paper some time - they basically paint Republicans as demons and are pro-gay, pro-abort, anti-gun and pro-welfare. Is that the kind of source you want to be citing?

You seem to miss the point.

This is just a small example of what the Left has on Santorum. And they are actually holding back, since there is a real an concerted effort on their side to get Santorum nominated. They have been pranking the primaries in several Open states to do just that. Michigan, Alabama, Mississippi, and any open state for that matter.

I understand your trying to defend Santorum, but what is in store for our side if he gets the nomination, will prove to be a disaster. I firmly believe that.

As far as Newt's record, that is not necessary. Newt's record speaks for itself. His personal issues should not be a factor, but many here have made the primary factor.

On the other hand, all this blind support for a candidate who can do no wrong, when he is not at all, what he is being promoted as being, is why I go out of my way to present facts that prove otherwise.

9. A Pittsburgh native from a large Irish-Catholic family, Karen Santorum is a former neonatal intensive care nurse and has a law degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

10. As a nursing student at Duquesne University, Karen Santorum lived with Tom Allen, an ob-gyn who had in fact delivered her, and had cofounded Pittsburgh’s first abortion clinic.

Santorum’s “record” shows he endorsed and voted for a PRO CHOICE judges, candidates. His wife was pro choice when he married her.
Santorum is a pious fraud! too bad he has managed to slither his way through so much of the election without being fully vetted. Cain,Perry, Newt were all vetted thoroughly...slinky man has evaded the process. All the christians hear are his little sound bites on porn and prophylactics.
Judicial endorsements..look at the most liberal Clinton judge for the 9th cirucit in Calif...most republicans did not go along with her but Santorum did.
Nominations
Voted for Richard Paez to the 9th Curcuit (cloture)
Voted for Sonia Sotomayor, Circuit Judge
Voted for Richard Holbrooke to be Ambassador to the UN
Voted for Margaret Morrow to be District Judge
Voted twice for Marsha Berzon to the 9th Circuit
Voted for Mary McLaughlin to be District Judge
Voted for Tim Dyk to be District Judge
Voted for James Brady to be District Judge

This is just a small example of what the Left has on Santorum.

Oh, spare me again. They have it on all of the candidates. What they don't have, they will make up, as they did with this headline. And they will twist themselves beyond recognition against any GOP candidate - they will attack Newt for sitting on that loveseat with Pelosi when they applauded it when it happened. That's just one example.

FR should stand for exposing and tearing down liberal hatchet jobs, not giving them veracity by picking them up and using them against the other guy.

The Santorum camp belives the same to be the case about Newt. And the GOP-E believes that about both men. Personally, I think a ham sandwich could beat Obama the way things are going.

Your beliefs about Santorum's electability does not justify using old left-wing attacks against him. We should condemn all such crap, instead of picking up the liberal hatchet jobs and using them.

We all understand forgiveness, as well as, NONE of us are the same people we were 20 years ago.

It is the Left that has no such understanding. They love to label “hypocrisy” on all Christians. Yet they look the other way in regards to their own double standard.

We understand that. But in order to defeat the enemy, you must first understand them. “Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies ever closer.”

It's time to come to a mutual understanding FRiend, and stop counter punching every other good FReepers input. If we hope to win, we need to find common ground, which explains why we are still losing.

Show where Santorum endorsed these judges. He voted for them, that is not an endorsement. Senators are always picking and choosing their judicial battles.

And I guess that's a pretty easy line of attack since Newt was not in a position as a House member to vote on judges.

You can probably find similar votes by just about any GOP senator.
