GOP being Punkd?
We know that Democrats are crossing over in open primaries, such as Mississippi and Alabama, in order to vote for Rick Santorum, a big union candidate, their votes intended to throw the Republican National Convention into a contested balloting process.
This tactic was written up at the Daily Kos. Big union money has even invested for the Santorum campaign.
Pardon me for not having all the pertinent facts and I confess I dont even have time to search for them all, today, to say nothing of presenting and formatting them, here. Can you help? Place further information into comments?
Santorum in Jackson, Mississippi, photo: Rogelio V. Solis, AP If memory serves me correctly, CNNs John King last evening pointed out there according to their exit polling, about six to eight percent of Alabama voters called themselves Democrats. However, I did not find breakdown by party at the exit poll pages in cnn.com. That seems odd in itself, eh?
And if that many Democrats were willing to tell exit pollsters what they did, how many more just walked by them, refusing to be polled? If you were a prankster-voting in such a case, would you want to be examined by a pollster? Maybe some would. Maybe more would not.
CNNs exit polls (for Mississippi and for Alabama) and the actual vote counts may be found at their site (and perhaps others have published exit polls, please tell me if you find any). Santorums final edge over Gingrich was approximately two percent in Mississippi and six percent in Alabama. Theoretically, both of these tallies could be within the margin of pranking.

6 to 8% of Santorum's votes were Obama Democrats.....Believe it.
Why on earth do we still have open primaries?
Remember how exit polls were oh-so-firmly showing Kerry was winning across the land vs. Bush in 2004?
Sorry... try again.
I am sure that that is what happened in SC, and Ga, how can someone with 14 % national support win anything.
I’d believe it. And I’d believe they were being some of the anti-Gingrich robo-calls on Sunday and Monday.
I don’t doubt it, obama would MUCH rather go up against wimpy than Gingrich...any day of the week and twice on election day.
I believe it. Santorum is the Left’s dream candidate for Obama to run against.
If Democrats give us Santorum over Romney,I will thank them kindly.
If Democrats and big labor like Santorum, then maybe Santorum is a lot more electable in the general election than some give him credit for.
After all, it’s hard to collect union dues when your workforce is drawing food stamps.
I believe it. One of my liberal friends in AL was talking about how he hadn’t decided who to vote for on Monday evening. He hates them all but probably voted for the weakest option.
Yes, of the 3 (Romney, Gingrich, Santorum), Newt would be the best one to defeat 0bama.
Just like Michigan.
A friend of mine in Birmingham says at least 10% of the votes for Lawyer Rickey in Jefferson County were democrat voters.
I’d be surprised if there weren’t a lot more than that in a few other cities. The democrat fascists as well as the Vichy Republicans are scared to death that Newt might somehow get the nomination. Lawyer Ricky or Bishop Romney they don’t worry about.
No it’s you who’s being punked. The vast majority of non Republican votes are going to Romney. Why? Because with 2 liberals running its a guarantee that a lib wins.
Move over Paul Qeada, there’s a new batch of nut jobs on the block.
You just refuse to admit that our primary is being manipulated and tampered with, and the evidence proves it.
You are in for a serious “wake up” very soon.
[Why on earth do we still have open primaries?]
I agree, this party is run by morons!
Sorry PSYCHO, it’s not us being Punk’d.
There exists a de facto campaign (by Conservative Republicans Gingrich & Santorum) to deny Romney the number of delegates needed to be selected as the Republican nominee. I agree with this strategy and hope that it succeeds.
To the extent that any (non-conservative) Rats come over and vote for Santorum or Gingrich in a misguided attempt to sabotage the Republicans, I welcome it. They are not the drivers of this strategy, they are USEFUL IDIOTS being used (and “punk’d) by the good guys (i.e., conservatives) in this noble effort. If our efforts to get a conservative nominee succeeds, these Rats will have made an inadvertent contribution to its success.
And, by the way PSYCHO, some of the Rats coming over to vote may be voting for Romney or some may be true conservatives (AKA Reagan Democrats).
More like Progressives and elitists....not saying they aren't morons but ideology is ultimately behind the open primary issue...
Maroons....as Bugs used to say!
Wrong again. The Deomcrat voters were interviewed and pointed out that they voted for Santorum. Romney or Gingrich were not even mentioned by any of them.
Of course, it is true. They are wanting to keep Newt in the back. heaven forbid, if Newt began to come on strong (can’t have that by the left or by Romney's media nor Newt's own party leaders)
And NEWT knows the game being played and knows what to do about it, that as you know is why he is staying in. One way or another he will do everything he can to see that Romney is not our candidate. Gotta love Newt, he loves America FIRST.
No. People aren’t crazy for Newt. That simple.
No... it’s because there’s a plethora of BS flying in all directions this year, so I’m looking for better substantiation than your supposition the delta is 6-8%. What’s your evidence? I don’t just buy into what CNN or any other news organization is saying on exit polls.
.[ I agree with this strategy and hope that it succeeds.]
Figures......And you about to be educated in regards to the result.
Because the RNC is run by a bunch of loooosers!
I’m willing to believe that’s what happened in GA and SC...FL even. AL and MS? Not so much.
And you're believing what they say translates into that 6-8% you're touting here?
Well then, put you money where your mouth is slick!
Shoe me even half a link supporting your rhetoric, or your claim.
(Waiting for your reply)
Wrong genius. That's why they're in AL and not PA.
If so, all those dems are going to feel REALLY bad if Santorum is elected president. It couldn't happen to a better bunch ;)
PSYCHO-FREEP, will you stop bashing Santorum if he gets the nomination?
And, by the way PSYCHO, some of the Rats coming over to vote may be voting for Romney or some may be true conservatives (AKA Reagan Democrats).
That may be true. What I saw in Michigan were Democrat strategists (Joe DiSano), and liberal radio show hosts (Tony Trupiano) organizing Democrats to vote for Rick because they thought he’d be easier for Obama to beat. The local news interviewed Democrat after Democrat after voting that day. None were actual Santorum supporters. They were hardcore Obama supporters.
My question is do you have any numbers to support your suggestion?
I need that Maroons Bugs Bunny pic I saw last night. Totally the RNC!
PROVE IT or STFU!
I thought those Southern states had the Right-to Work Law. No one is forced to join a union.
Drop your fixation on Newt. He is no longer a contender. There is a much more sinister force working against us here. Start thinking ahead for a change.
I cast my first vote for George Bush as an AFL-CIO member. I didn’t have any choice about being in the union but there was no way in hell I was voting for Gore.
calling for them to do this very thing in all upcoming primaries. even, Santos was shocked that he won last night. Go back and watch the video of he and his wife's reaction. Thank you, dems. I know that you are reading here. Maybe one day, we will get smart truthful people at the right places vs. these political correctness folks or people appointed to do that of a party asks them to do -secretly as an engaged operative.
People are vastly underestimating Santorum’s electability.
He will win with Midwestern working class Catholics, and he has shown that he can draw evangelicals.
The only place he will struggle is with upscale independent suburbanites, who are overrated as a bloc anyway.
Gingrich is the one GOP candidate without a definable constituency.
Santorum is a much weaker candidate than Gingrich. Now it looks like Gingrich is toast.
In TN we have a former rep. who was complaining because he wasn’t allowed to vote due to the new voter ID law. I was thinking he’s a Democrat and wondered why he’d even be voting in the primary anyway.
Let us in on it, wouldja?
LOL. Famous last words.
Of course Dims crossed over in Alabama and Mississippi! How do you think Romney got to nearly 30%?????
