Your preference duly noted. I consider NG an option, but at this time he is not my preference.
My message to him and all candidates... they need to campaign to the general public to show that they have suitable support with independents, moderates, and even some Dems; so we know that a nominee can run a viable campaign in the fall.
And you really don’t think the MSM, Obama and the Dems would make Rick Santorum—he who would use the presidency as a bully pulpit to speak out against contraception—completely radioactive to moderate and independent women by this fall?
AND - I want to say more of why I think we should all “Rally 4 Rick!” (pending) - Even if this deal were made, even Rick would have to use the next 5 months to prove that he was ready for the general election, and the WH! If he were not viable with the US public, then conservative delegates would have to decide who is.
Maybe he seems particularly wrong for what you’re proposing given how he’s been snide about Sarah Palin and the tea party and really doesn’t have any record of building coalitions and getting deals done the way Newt at least does.
Santorum will get demolished in the general. The left will throw everything they have at him. They will even try to tie him in with Rush and the contraception issue. The Chicago mob will stop at nothing. No way Rick gets the independents.

Are FReepers going to `lead the way’?
Come on Folks, - Let’s make a deal!
Looks like a Santorum thread to me. LOL!!!!
The Santorum strategy over the course of the last several days has desolved into writing op eds and whining at Newt, who is busy with a surge in the making.
Fat chance of Newt getting out. Let’s just hold our horses and count “committed” delegates after Super Tuesday, Alabama and TEXAS.
Reportedly, Santorum has yet to win an actual PRIMARY! Caucas maybe’s (un-committed) are still among most of his delegates or nearly most.
Same story in Tennessee - with few to none in “committed” delegates. Not so with Newt.
Quick general answer - I expect ALL candidates are going to have one problem or another w/ the media...
AND, it is not just the candidates problem, it is OUR / conservatives problem. Not just what are they going to do; but also what are we going to do to help them? (IF we are inclined to help a particular candidate.)
Oh, did you say “radioactive”? FR HAZMAT can deal with that, - Yes? Do you want to take the lead in organizing that?
If so, make an Anchor Post or a separate thread and let’s go to Work!
NOTE: The original post does NOT want any suitable candidates to be “getting out”. We need suitable candidates, leaders and activists to be actively campaigning from now thru to Nov.
If you want Rick to yield, give it your best, let’s hear it. I don’t know if there is time to make a deal for Super Tuesday. But we can start the process here; before it is too late.
FYI - Post #47 is an “Anchor Post” for NG HQ for this thread.
14 was deleted, so I don’t know what was said.

If there is a good conservative candidate that is going to prevail, - good. If not, let’s make a deal, so we conservatives... ~ get/keep possession of the ball.
Paul hasn’t beat Romney anywheres.
It’s a bit harsh, but the Paul vs Romney head to head favors Romney. Pushing Paul to defeat Romney just isn’t going to work.
Super Tuesday Bump!
Brokered Primary Now! = Secure Conservative Nomination for the GOP Convention
Then use the next 5 months of campaigning to find the best Conservative Nominee.
As the title says:
*1. GOP Needs Brokered Primary Now! (with emphasis on Primary, Now!)
*2. Rick as temp Placekeeper Nominee;
*3. Decide Final Nominee @ Convention
Further...
The explicit understanding and gentlemen's agreement is that this temporary placekeeper `nominee' is for the purpose to stop the GOP-e candidate(s) here in the primary, and secure the Conservative nomination for the convention.
7a. We are a Republic - We can't be afraid of a convention. 7b. Work together / make a deal, secure the Conservative nomination ASAP! w/ Rick S. 7c. If GOP-e Leaders want to try to strong-arm the convention, well then, too bad for them, the decision is made: The Conservative / Santorum Nomination will be SECURE.
Note: Anchor Posts = @Posts is an idea to try to organize our work and activism on FR threads.
1. Post specific info or communication to specific @Post
2. Click on View Replies for single channel of info or communication (if any).

"Todd At The Top!" 2012
To me I have seen in Sarah Palin more of the “it” factor than I've seen in any one ever. It was her destiny. the media took it away from us.
One Sarah Palin to rule them all, one Sarah Palin to find them, one Sarah to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
I just voted for Santorum in Ohio yesterday and he lost by one lousy percentage point.
Meanwhile, Gingrich took 15 or so.
In short, Romney wins and conservatives look stupid.
