If he were not viable with the US public, then conservative delegates would have to decide who is.
Maybe he seems particularly wrong for what you’re proposing given how he’s been snide about Sarah Palin and the tea party and really doesn’t have any record of building coalitions and getting deals done the way Newt at least does.
