Rick Perry: Americans should be 'unhinged' by decision to reject Keystone pipe path
Fox News ^ | January 18, 2012 | Nick Kalman

..."It doesn't surprise me but it's again -- the president's focused more on the next election than on the next generation.

"Getting this country independent of foreign sources of crude from countries that are not our friends is really problematic. So this Canadian oil, there's a possibility we could lose it to China with that decision so I hope Americans will really become unhinged with that decision because it is a really bad decision for our country, for energy independence and sends a horrible message at a time that were headed to $4 and $5 oil or excuse me $4 or $5 gasoline, to have a neighbor who's willing to sell us crude that is available."

I wish people would wake up and realize that Perry is the candidate we should be rallying around. This is exactly what Perry needs to continue doing. Attack obama. Rise above the fray of the other infighting. Come across as the statesman and three term governor that he is.

I truly believe that. It’s a vast left wing conspiracy.

Really.

If Perry could somehow move past Santorum in SC, he would have a clear road ahead.

I just heard Hannity say that Rick Perry is going to be on his radio show “later” and that Karl Rove also will be on today to help “sort it all out”......... as in, kick Perry in the balls again. Nice going Sean. Nice going Karl. [scorn ahead of their Hannity-Rove act that isn’t fooling anyone]

Rick Perry would never ever stop this pipeline. He has spokenn of how important drilling is in his plans. Perry would fix everything if people would just wake up and see he is the only conservative to vote for.

Obama’s denial of the pipeline is a disgrace! He claims to want to create jobs but his decision prevented the creations of thousands.

Perry needs to call a press conference and blast Obama. He needs to do something to get attention on this issue and it could create the surge he needs!

Perry is the only Washington outsider I trust to reduce the size and intrusion of big government!

If he was president, Perry would have approved the pipeline in a heartbeat!

How does Perry expect Americans to pay attention to things like the economy, jobs, energy, taxes, etc,etc,etc... When we have more important things to worry about, like, who will win American Idol, The Kardashians, sports events, ATM fees, etc,etc,etc...

You know, the IMPORTANT things.

This is so sad because it's true. More people care about what's happening on a fake reality show than what is being done to our country.

I'm going to repost this again - most of you know that I'm not a Perry fan, but in this instance, Perry knows about what he's talking about.

One that I came across recently that surprised and impressed me was that he made a trip to China in 2010 and strongly encouraged the Chinese to invest in Texas' oil and gas industry. Guess what? They did. To the tune of $2 billion being invested in Texas oilfields. This video was recorded not long after he made the trip to China - he talks about the trip around 9:40 into the video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgjFXCcz2g4

The result? Later that year:

http://www.chron.com/business/energy/article/Move-by-Chinese-to-lift-S-Texas-boom-to-new-high-1617593.php

China's national oil company, CNOOC, will spend $2.2 billion to drill in partnership with Chesapeake Energy Corp. in the Eagle Ford shale, a rich oil and gas formation that lies under 11 counties.

Exploration in the Eagle Ford already has brought newfound prosperity to South Texas' hardscrabble farming and cattle country, and Chesapeake said the ramped-up drilling could bring 20,000 jobs to the region.

See these boots that Perry gave the Chinese foreign minister on his trip to China?

Think of each one of those boots representing a $1 billion investment in Texas oilfield, or 10,000 jobs. And there is more to it than that - he also got the Chinese to invest $1 billion into a pipe manufacturing facility in Texas.

It didn't happen overnight either. Perry worked for months on getting the Chinese to invest.

This is Perry hosting a reception with the Chinese Consulate General of Houston a few months before he made his trip to China:

While other candidates have talked about trade wars with China, Perry went to China and brought back Chinese investments. Perry talks about his foreign relations experience with Mexico, but he really should be talking about his foreign relations experience with China.

Did Obama go over to China and get them to invest billions in our oil and gas industry? I don't think so. He's only interested in shipping jobs to China. Perry is interested in bringing Chinese money here.

“The problem is that Romney is beginning to pull away in polls among Republican primary voters...

He appears to be strengthening. The non Romneys appear to be weakening...whether individually or as a group.”

I can’t get my mind around it. Early on in the campaign season, I wasn’t even concerned about Romney because I was certain there was no chance he would take the South. I just don’t understand what’s happening.

Are conservatives INSANE??

Perry needs to call a press conference and blast Obama. He needs to do something to get attention on this issue and it could create the surge he needs!

He also needs to bring the fact the Hilary was the one that advised Obama under the guise that the State Dept. did not have enough time to review the security issues.

How long has this Pipeline been in the works? How many times/reasons has it been stalled for. The real security issue is that we be able to have oil supplied to us from a close ally, rather than shipping it off to China.

We need to gain energy independence. Once again, Iran has proved that this week. In addition, there are 20,000 jobs at stake here. It is not just the direct jobs, but the overall increase of business to those that provide services and products needed to support this venture.

To not jump on this opportunity is sheer stupidity. It is a pressing and vital news story that will probably get buried with the politics of the day. I trust Governor Perry will speak loudly and clearly of this and the vital interest it has to our country.

Today I have heard that Newt made a big surge, post debate.

That Insider Advantage has him back in the lead in SC, whereas Romney had been leading and pulling away.

He’s not my candidate but at least, if true, it’s bad news for Romney and his debate performance.

I can’t understand, either...what were people thinking, that caused Romney to surge in the South, of all places?

The idea that Keystone safety hasn’t been studied is bull — it’s been studied longer than any — for THREE years.

It was brought up last evening on the news that Obama gave the unions control of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and the knife to Keystone as a gift to Environmentalists.
