I don't think I've ever paid $180 for any pair of shoes, much less a pair of basketball shoes.

And they probably cost $10 to make.

Cheap Chinese labor is cool.

I’m sure the 50% of Americans paying income taxes appreciate these recipients of those tax dollars.

After subsidized housing, foodstamps, free school breakfasts and lunches, free health care, affirmative action, big police and prison costs, we get to buy the subsidized class $180 basketball shoes.

Something tells me the films of blacks stealing in convenience stores, pushing down store doors like this, won’t go unnoticed in the election, if it gets subtly raised.

These people have been encouraged by Obama and holder that they can now get away with anything they want.

Emboldened it is.

Tennis shoes are disposable items like Bic lighters, or tooth brush's. A good pair of shoes that you have re-souled, and polished rather than throwing away, now that is rare in this day and age. Some people throw away the shoes when the strings wear out. We are such a wasteful society. Oh’ the point I was trying to make is, ‘no disposable item is worth $180.00 dollars.’

Unless it's not your 180 to begin with.

When you get money for free, it becomes valueless, because it cost you nothing to begin with.

Kinda' like the words of a song a friend of mine from Hibbing, MN wrote a few years ago,

"When you got nothin', you got nothin' to lose..."

The inverse is perhaps reflected in the more modern words of rock group RUSH.

“We may have precious little, but its still precious.”

“A good pair of shoes that you have re-souled”

Just took in my Western boots for new soles. For the fifth time! Most comfortable footwear ever! They were $75, 30 years ago.

Same reason that the amount of wisdom and knowledge desired by the populace is inversely proportional to the availability of wisdom and knowledge. People value what is rare. Being as common as dirt, knowledge and understanding is treated like dirt. No respect.

The entire sum of human knowledge and insight is literally available at anyone's fingertips. When educational opportunities need to be sought after with all one's heart, they are appreciated and guarded. Now? Why read what the old dead guys wrote when tweeting about breakfast is more important. :-/

I got a pair of work boots for 200...cant shoot hoops in them but they are really warm.
I used to buy jumpboots when I was in EMS...Needed them for ankle support and they looked great with a shine on them. I think they went for 200 also.
180 for a pair of sneakers...no friggin way. But then again, I dont have Uncle Sam giving me Welfare cash to afford them.

I have to admit that I like not inexpensive shoes, but I wait until the store in town has their 60 & 70% off sale & I save for months beforehand w/ money I have EARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand your bliss at your boots. My husband got me a pair of Frye motorcycle boots & they will outlive me probably. Plus, they are handmade in the U.S.
