Publishers for US First Lady Michelle Obamas upcoming cookbook have released an early preview of the books cover art and revealed more details about its spring release.
American Grown: How the White House Kitchen Garden Inspires Families, Schools, and Communities, published by Crown Publishers, is Obamas first cookbook and will be issued in both print and digital editions.
The print edition will include photos of the White House garden and Obama throughout the seasons, and include more details about how the First Lady was inspired by her daughters Sasha and Malia to change her familys eating habits and plant an edible garden on the South Lawn the first since Eleanor Roosevelts Victory Garden, planted during the Second World War.
The book will also provide ideas and resources on how to start urban gardens and make long-lasting lifestyle changes with recipe ideas and simple tips.
Obama accepted no advance for the book and all net proceeds will go to charity. The book goes on sale in the US April 10, 2012.
Obamas not the first First Lady to espouse a cause and pen a book or two. Laura Bush co-wrote a childrens book promoting literacy Read All About It! with daughter Jenna, while Hillary Rodham Clinton, current Secretary of State, wrote It Takes a Village while First Lady as a vocal child advocate.
Edit:
I heard Bill Ayers is one of the ghost writer? Originally, the book was going to be titled, American Grown Terrorism. Then Valerie Jarrett informed him at one of their bi-annual underground commie meetings that the book was about gardening. So, Ayers dropped the word terrorism from the title and just called it American Grown.
Will some (or most) these be bought and paid for by the u.s. taxpayers and sent to u.s. embassies libraries worldwide too?
Now who ghostwrote it?? I wonder if paula Deen wrote it? Or Emile LaGasse or Gordon Ramsey!!
I doubt it was Michelle!!
Laxative, Alcaseltzer and barf bag included with life time refillllsss.
So would I ...
... On the other hand, If I had moochelle's book in my kitchen, the nausea would probably help me lose a little weight.
The only way I’m buying this is if there are some good color pictures of Boturds in the broccoli.
Just saw yesterday that State had bought a whole boatload of Obummer’s 2 books. They were then sent to our various embassies to be handed out as gifts. Isn’t that special?
This basket cost $25,000 to grow... good job!
