Security measures, Honduran style (Crime Part II)

Several months ago a well-respected pastor was senselessly murdered in San Pedro. Initially it was reported that he was killed while walking his dogs by thieves who wanted his two Schnauzers, which reportedly have a value in Honduras of about US $500 each. Later it was reported by a witness that he was killed merely for his cell phone.

Honduras President Pepe Lobo's first anniversaryThat murder seemed to be the straw that broke the camel's back — for a few moments in time anyway. Thousands came out a week later in a silent protest to demand that something be done about crime. Journalist, attorney, and business associations, among others, also made strong demands of officials.

The pastor's murder was followed by the assasination of a couple of attorneys and the surviving brother of a congressman who was himself assasinated a few months previously. At least two mayors have been murdered and other attempts have been made against mayors this year. Forty-plus police officers have been murdered, including the head of the organized crime/narcotrafficking unit of the police. Journalists continue to be murdered. A judge who ruled against invasionistas in the controversial Bajo Aguan dispute was murdered. Those are only some of the most notable assasinations, only a taste of news, which is usually complete with gruesome photos and video that we are subjected to every single day in Honduras, where an average of 20 murders per day, or one every 72 minutes, are committed.

Take the time to read the article. It is long enough that I did not post it all on FR, but is a very well written description of the Law Enforcement and Security problems of Honduras.

It is written from the perspective of an Xpat U.S. Citizen who has lived in Honduras quite a while. A friend I made on Twitter.

This article reminded me of our own problems with the TSA. Sounds like much of the law enforcement in Honduras is similar.

This is the 2nd in a series of ongoing articles on this subject. I found it very interesting and it answered a lot of my recent question about the changes in Honduras since the Presidential elections. I am very displeased with Mr. Lobo, the new Honduran President.

Lobo is taking his cues from the obama administration and the US State Department...removing popular rightist office holders and replacing them with leftists. It is disgusting.

Yes, it is disgusting. And saddening.

This article explains how ineffective their police are. It does not deal with the new people that Mr. Lobo has put in Police and Security positions. I don’t need a script to decide their political direction, they are not nationalists. That indicates to me they are lefties. He has been bought by Obozo. The people of Honduras have been “sold out”.

I am worried about future elections in Honduras. Once the control mechanism is set in place, what happens to their Constitution? Will Lobo “replace” the judges that stopped Zalaya? Civil war? He has already “replaced” high ranking military officers. Mass murders? There has already been one that I know of. I believe 28 farmers were murdered for their land.
I pray for these people every day and hope that my fears do not come to pass. But it is looking more and more likely.

I am concerned too. I followed them closely before, during and after the last elections. I came to like the spunk of Mr. Micheletti and his friends.

Lobo looks like a sell-out train wreck.....

I also pray for them. Especially friends I have made there wih exchanges via Twitter and the web.

Thanks for the article. God, those poor people. The narcos are eating that society alive.

Not just the Narcos. Obozo’s Commie minions are also working hard to subject them. They have always been good US allies, their Commie neighbors in Nicaragua hate them.

Then there is the turning of the OAS into a Commie haven. Then there is the effects of the Sau Paulo Forum.

Commies to the Left, Commies to the Right. What a mess.

And with Obozo at the helm in the U.S., they will get no help from us.
