Rick Perry Faces Warp-Speed Nomination Contest
Rick Perry Report ^ | Oct 10, 2011 | Joe Hyde

Posted on 10/10/2011 12:27:44 AM PDT by bullypulpit

For Texas Gov. Rick Perry, the path to nomination is full of new perils. His money will help him, but it may not be enough. This contest will be decided by April 1, 2012, and there is no time to recover from a misstep. Here's why. ... The only two Republican candidates with substantial campaign funds are Mitt Romney and Rick Perry. Herman Cain will sell some more books, but eventually will have to meet the realities on the ground. He doesn't have the cash to compete, and the GOP rigged the game against him this year. The same can be said about Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum, and Newt Gingrich. Unknown are their pending impact of the various 527 groups, or Super PACs that are lining up behind Perry and Romney. Perry's close associate Mike Toomey (of Merck and Gardasil fame) heads the Make Us Great Again PAC that reportedly has $55 million to help Perry win the nomination. This is in addition to the not-so-paltry $17.1 million Perry raised during the last 49 days of the third quarter of 2011.

Of course, what the Perrybots don’t consider is Cain’s not insignificant showing of late, as well as his very substantial increase in donations. Perry could very well find himself a third-place (at best) candidate. I don’t like the fact the GOP is pushing RINO-Romney (as is the MSM) but until the sheeple start waking up to the slick packaging/empty suit crap, all we can do is spread the word one voter at a time.

You do realize Perry will be attacked for raising a lot of money, don’t you?

The irony is, if the other candidates that don’t have many bucks were to suddenly hit the fundraising jackpost and multiple millions poured it, not a one would refuse the money (as long as it was legal).

Newt gave a great speech at the VVS but he hit a sour note with me when he attacked the candidates that had raised the most money for...yep...raising the most money.

At the time I thought, Newt would love to have that money, and if he did, he wouldn’t think it warranted an attack on him.

Hypocrisy.

Nicely written article bully! Perhaps you could pass that onto the author??? :)

I’m going to bed (didn’t mean to stay up this late even), so I am not expecting an answer actually, but I wish I knew why we had to have all those states change the voting dates. Oh, I get it that Florida wanted to have ‘their say’ and then by law, the way the process is written, that the others had to follow suit to keep their lawful places. I just guess I don’t like that it all had to change to begin with. And I support Rick Perry who would not have been AS affected by the changes as say Newt or Santorum! I just wish the process had not been toyed with.

Thanks for the article bully, and if you get the chance, throw your arm over your shoulders and give yourself a pat on the back for a well-done post!

You mean what the Perrybots don't consider is Cain's significant NOT showing as late. How are those book sales going?

Cain reminds me of Reagan in 1976. He’ll come close enough to get a better radio commentary gig for the next 8 years or so and run after Perry’s last term (-;

Herman Cain on Mitt Romney:

“I believe Romney is a good choice”

In an interview with the Washington Times.

He went on to say that Romney’s problem is he can’t win because the South won’t vote for a Mormon.

Otherwise, Romney’s a good choice.

I don’t have a link to the Times with the quote, but it has been posted on more than one thread. I can point anyone to a thread and a post # where it’s found.

What a thing for Cain to say!!

Thanks again for the article, and thanks for the lead on the local board too. I posted back to you there. Hope you saw that. I’m off to get some sleep. Good luck with the thread!

What a thing for Cain to say!!

The South went to Mike Huckabee in the 2008 Republican primaries, not Mitt Romney. Facts speak for themselves.

Perry will be attacked because he is Perry, and apparently it’s not only politically correct, but almost mandatory to do so. That’s why I created http://rickperryreport.com. To use my better than average Web dev and SEO skills to counter all the bullsh$t out there about my bro (especially from the WashPost && HuffPost && the black helicopter crowd).

I am working on the crony capitalism piece, but not finished yet.

Paulbots are driving the inter-GOP nastiness occuring on every conservative website and board in this country. I'm privy to some interesting insight due to some random "friendings" on Facebook. These people are surreptitiously stirring up organized trouble.

They're masquerading as Perry supporters, Bachmann supporters, Romney supporters and Cain supporters.

When you run across a supposed "supporter" of a GOP candidate and all it does is spew MSM talking points against another candidate...or if it's spewing lies long discredited...or if it won't respond to reasonable argument...or if it is particularly nasty in tone...or if it's a repeatedly "hit-and-run" poster...it's probably a Paulbot. Their only hope is to move every candidate's numbers to a level of support below Paul's. They can only do it by highlighting the relatively minor differences between the other candidates, because the difference between Paul and the rest is an unbridgeable gulf

They're here and they're easy to spot.

Don't you think?

At this point, there are only two people I would seriously consider voting for: Cain and Perry. I've heard and seen too much of Romney's slick crap and none of the others has impressed me. Don't get me started on the wingnuts like Huntsman and Paul. What irks me is that Florida moving up their primary screws up the whole process for EVERYBODY--now we have to have candidates do their campaigning in the next six weeks, because between Thanksgiving and X-Mas, nobody's going to give a rat's rip.

And before you get on the Iowa/NH why are they first bandwagon, accept it for what it is, and then try to get the various state legislatures to agree on a more equitable system so that all states get to be the hot spot every so often. Living in NH, I'd agree we get more than our fair share of exposure being the first primary state and that by the time April rolls around, the nomination has been more or less decided. I've thrown some ideas around, but the biggest block to that is getting the states to go along with it--good luck getting that to ever happen.

Oh I agree he will be attacked, period. I was just giving a bit of insight into the hypocrisy of those who attack those who raise lots of money. If only they themselves could raise that much, suddenly it would be fine.

Found the source:

“Romney is a good choice, but I don’t believe he can win”, Mr. Cain told editors and reporters at the Washington Times.
