A new poll released by Fox shows the national frontrunner is still former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney who is maintaining a lead over Texas Governor Rick Perry. Former Godfather Pizza CEO Herman Cain has vaulted out of the second tier of the pack to be in the 3rd position while former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has almost four times the support he had just one month ago.

How in the world can Romney possibly be the “frontrunner”...??? He has not done well in any of the debates, he has a miserable, Obama-supporting track record, he’s a big-government person from the get-go and probably the most liberal of the GOP candidates. Who in the world are they polling?

Hi, Bill.
Welcome to Free Republic.

I see you have excerpted your own writing.

Is there a particular reason you have done that?

Didn’t you hear Bill O’Reilly says any poll that doesn’t show Perry and Mitt as the two clear front runners needs to be thrown out!

Gotta get that web traffic up somehow .....

That is pretty funny - being that blatant about it.

Why can’t these idiots “get” it?

They’ll get more respect — and ultimately more clicks — if they just post the full article here in FR.

I puke on blog-excerpts.

"Sorry...but Mitt Romney will get the nomination."

I certainly hope not this country doesn't need four more years of Obama.

Romney’s numbers will not go up and down by too much. All the other candidates share the rest of the pool. That’s why Romney’s numbers are steady while the others are fluctuating.

IMHO "Friendly" pollsters are just as likely to attempt to skew the results of their craft through manipulation of the sample size, the framing of the questions, or the 'slant' that is applied because they see the results and believe that the sheeple will buy their press release hook, line and sinker.

Newt is damaged goods, period. Romney is, we believe, unelectable. He will not receive an ABO vote from our household.

I met Herman Cain several years ago at CPAC, was impressed then, and continue to be a supporter of his. He does have the 'handicap' of no elected office in his background, (goes to experience and capability), but this plays directly into his favor as an outsider who is undeniably succesful in the business world, has a good head on his shoulders, and would be a breath of fresh air in Washington.

My choice for several years from now is John Kasich, but I think that we will have to bide our time and let this up and comer mature politically, rack up some executive wins, and be able to set the stage to become another U.S. president from Ohio.

A protest vite for the Constitution Party? Some would deride this as a vote for BAM. However, the leadership needs to know we are note fooling about needing a true conservative candidate.

Frontrunner since leading in polls, and no real credible conservative had emerged who is seen as credible candidate against obama.
His debate performance was unfortunately pretty good.

Cain is still unknown so he can emerge.

Perry self-destructed himself under pressure. We all know what would happen if katie couric were to interview him on tv. His insulting comments re illegals were the final nail in the coffin.

Christie and newt are global warming nuts, newt also pro illegal.

Looks like Cain is best hope

You are right about Romney’s numbers. There’s no room for growth there, and probably not much chance of shrinking, either.

The important thing is for conservatives to coalesce around a single candidate before Romney can augment his base number with cross-over votes and steal the nomination.

As I said weeks ago, I would love to see Cain and/or Gingrich get the nomination...they are the only two that can and will stand up to the press, and with their combined governmental and private sector knowledge and experience they compliment each other like no other pair on the panel.

Perry is Bush-lite...open borders, etc...and a lousy debater; romney is obama-lite. The big hullaballou about those two "frontrunners" is a product of the elite Republicans and the MSM...not the people.

Romney will do the same thing that his "student" - Scott Brown - did..."campaign right", and then do a sharp left turn if elected.

Don't forget his other elected brethern - John Kerry and Barney Frank...among others.

It's the elite northeast physche, it's the way they are programmed to be, and it's the direction that Romney would take us.

Electing Romney would put four, powerful government positions in the hands of these people...THAT, we don't need.

RINO and Son

Then obama wins and we get to rebuild from the ashes he leaves behind.

I think Sarah did a head-fake on Greta’s show to see if Christie would enter the race.

Seriously, the support for Paul and Romney is about 31% combined (RCP). That means 69% do not want Paul or Romney.
This 69% is waiting to vote for a conservative they trust. Perry started to attract this group, but isn’t as perfect as he first seemed. Cain is now the anti-Perry, Romney and Paul.

If Christie does not enter the race, and Palin does, it will be interesting to see how the 69% crystallizes around one of the remaining candidates. I think that once Palin decides whether to enter the race (I think she will...) then the crystallization will occur quickly and the race will be down to Romney vs. Perry, Palin and Cain.

I think Cain’s will not be able to raise the big money and drop out waiting for the VP call, and Perry will fall behind. Then, the primaries will determine if Palin or Romney will be the candidate. I predict lots of cross-over primary voting (Operation Chaos II) and it will be a 50-50 race to the end.

FWIW.

FoxNews has an agenda...as many POS’s that want to vote and skew this poll is quite easy. This is why O’Rielly pulled his poll because of that taking place. FoxNews Poll is not reality.
