U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, whom every presidential candidate would love to have as a running mate, sounds a lot like a Rick Perry supporter when it comes to the issue of tuition help for immigrants who grew up in the United States long after they were brought here illegally.
[snip]
"I think theres general consensus behind the idea that we need to do something to help out kids who were brought here by our parents longtime ago and who have grown up in this country," Rubio said a few weeks ago, echoing comments and sentiments he made on the campaign trail last year.
I do think that we need to figure out how we accommodate kids who have something to contribute to our nations future. Whether its serving in the armed forces or going on to college and graduated who have basically lived most of their lives (here), he said.
"I would say the vast majority of Americans would say that doesnt feel right," to deport or deny education help to a person in a case where "youre going to go to college and youre a good student and youre valedictorian of your school or youre going to go into the military," Rubio said. "Weve got to figure something out. And thats what were in the process of trying to do."
When Rubio was the state Legislature he supported legislation similar to one that Perry has caught flak for.
There was a Florida bill," Rubio said. "It was pretty limited to a number of people, you had to have a certain GPA. It was very limited in scope. ...

He may be great on everything else, but I can never support Rubio for his position on illegal immigration.
DUCK FOR COVER! Incoming!!!!!

Only if he's a threat to Mitt Romney.
did he also call conservatives who disagree racists and heartless?
Although I wouldn’t vote for him either.
Is he running for something right now?
RINO!!!!!!!!!
Why should it cause heads to explode? Rubio’s reaction right out of the box re: Arizona’s law, during the Florida primary process, was that Arizona was wrong. He backtracked and shuffled his way out of it, but even then, it was obvious that the great mass of people behind Rubio had been fooled again, backing a nice, clean, quietly fake conservative over an orange, clearly fake conservative.
At what point do conservatives get to have a candidate who has all the right moves as our nominee? Why do American conservatives put up with this crap from the GOP, which takes evident glee in sneaking these silent snakes into elective office? He’s arguably better than Crist would have been (so far, so good), but I still think it’s reasonable to expect Rubio to turn into the next Martinez by the time his term concludes. Why would he do otherwise, with the negligible repercussions it’s had on the free traitor and open borders types who’ve stabbed America in the back time and again?
Danger, Will Robinson!
RINO? Say it ain’ so! Not the posterboy of the Tea Party?
Anyone with that opinion must be a no count RINO.
There are some grown ups out there, aren’t there. The spoiled class is loud, chest pumped and anathema to every thing for which the USA stands, to the reality of her founding and certainly to Christian principles towards human sensitivity. Would hate to try and fight WWII with some. You know, sharing a fox hole with an illegal and all. /s
We can lose the general election on the hypocrisy and if we don’t clean it up, we may. Not every American voter was raised in a pasture like some of us, and get the difference between cut throats, La Raza Marxists, and just plain folks. It’s time to get a grip on a government who has spent now decades ignoring the illegal entry for the sake of a workforce, but then turns into Simon Lagree and wants to send them wholesale back to Mexico because they are trapped in both the system and the new found delays of applying for citizenship because of the gun runners, cartels, and our self imposed economic woes.
I know who used the word heartless but I'm unaware of who used the word racist?
Zombie caterpillars RULE!!!!
“but I still think its reasonable to expect Rubio to turn into the next Martinez by the time his term concludes.”
Oh, good. Let’s do another circular firing squad on another electable Republican who can put away the Marxists.
GAD. The DK and DU, whatever that means, will love this stuff, as well as Valerie Jarrett. Next?
I had a bet with Freepers a year ago that he is a RINO. At least he didn;t call us “heartless” like Rico Perry.
Sounds perfectly logical coming from someone who was born a citizen of Cuba.
He said we don’t like illegals because their names sound different than ours. Second debate I think.
That is the same phrase lefties use to call people racists.
