Morgan Freeman Admits Hollywood Has Failed Its Progressive Mission
Pajamas Media ^ | 9/25/2011 | Ed Driscoll

Posted on 09/25/2011 4:38:52 AM PDT by IbJensen

“Morgan Freeman, in an interview to be aired on CNN Friday evening, says that President Obama has made racism worse in America,” Noel Sheppard writes at Newsbusters:

PIERS MORGAN, HOST: Has Obama helped the process of eradicating racism, or has it in a strange way made it worse.

MORGAN FREEMAN: Made it worse. Made it worse. Look at, look, the Tea Partiers, who are controlling the Republican Party, stated, and what’s this guy’s name, Mitch O’Connell. Is that his, O’Connell?

MORGAN: Yeah, Mitch McConnell, yeah.

FREEMAN: Mitch McConnell. Their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term. What’s, what does that, what underlines that? “Screw the country. We’re going to whatever we do to get this black man, we can, we’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man outta here.”

MORGAN: But is that necessarily a racist thing?

FREEMAN: It is a racist thing.

MORGAN: Is it not Republicans, wouldn’t that say that about any Democrat president?

FREEMAN: No, they would have gotten rid of Bill Clinton if they could have.

MORGAN: They tried.

FREEMAN: They did try, but still. I don’t, they’re not going to get rid of Obama either. I think they’re shooting themselves in the head.

MORGAN: Does it unnerve you that the Tea Party are gaining such traction?

FREEMAN: Yes.

MORGAN: Why?

FREEMAN: Well, it just shows the weak, dark, underside of America. We’re supposed to be better than that. We really are. That’s, that’s why all those people were in tears when Obama was elected president. “Ah, look at what we are. Look at how, this is America.” You know? And then it just sort of started turning because these people surfaced like stirring up muddy water.

Noel responds:

Is that what it shows, or does it show that people — not just those in the Tea Party — have lost faith in this President?

Obama’s poll numbers continue to sink. This includes amongst reliably Democratic supporters such as Jews and African-Americans?

Have Jews and African-Americans suddenly become black haters?

The reality is that more and more people — even some in the media, perish the thought — are coming to the conclusion that Barack Obama was totally unqualified for the job as president, and that his performance in the past 32 months proves it.

What folks like Freeman don’t get is that there’s nothing racist about such feelings, and to make such an accusation is, well, racist.

Of course. But just for the sake of argument, let’s assume Freeman is right — that America is a racist cesspool. What role does his industry play in shaping that? Sixty years of films such as Stanley Kramer’s The Defiant Ones and Guess Who’s Coming Dinner. Twenty years of Freeman himself alternating between playing either God or the president. All for naught. If Freeman is right, then Hollywood has failed in the role that his fellow progressives set out for it. And he has failed in his choices of film roles.

But then, as fellow Hollywood elite Nora Ephron wrote in April of 2008 at the Huffington Post:

This is an election about whether the people of Pennsylvania hate blacks more than they hate women. And when I say people, I don’t mean people, I mean white men. How ironic is this? After all this time, after all these stupid articles about how powerless white men are and how they can’t even get into college because of overachieving women and affirmative action and mean lady teachers who expected them to sit still in the third grade even though they were all suffering from terminal attention deficit disorder — after all this, they turn out (surprise!) to have all the power. (As they always did, by the way; I hope you didn’t believe any of those articles.)

To put it bluntly, the next president will be elected by them: the outcome of Tuesday’s primary will depend on whether they go for Hillary or Obama, and the outcome of the general election will depend on whether enough of them vote for McCain. A lot of them will: white men cannot be relied on, as all of us know who have spent a lifetime dating them. And McCain is a compelling candidate, particularly because of the Torture Thing. As for the Democratic hope that McCain’s temper will be a problem, don’t bet on it. A lot of white men have terrible tempers, and what’s more, they think it’s normal.

And that was during the Pennsylvania primary. The Pennsylvania Democratic primary. So if those Democrats who supported Hillary were racists, if those Democrats (particularly those in Hollywood) who have abandoned Obama in 2011 are racists, and if the Tea Party is racist (pay no attention to the support they’ve shown to Allen West and Herman Cain, not to mention the diverse nature of the Tea Party itself — Morgan isn’t), then essentially Freeman is saying that America has made no progress since the days of the Woodrow Wilson and the Dixiecrats.

And his industry — and his ideology — must share some of the blame for that.

My, how low America has sunk when Hollywood looks so far down upon it.

And in just three and a half years, too.

That is rich - voting for the guy because he’s black is OK - voting against him is racist.

I like him as an actor, and he said some independent things about race in the past, but he seems to have completely crossed over to the Hollywood lib mentality.

He demonstrates that he has not actually looked into the subject since he can’t even name Mitch McConnell without help. Or a script.

I wrote ‘we’ because it is easy to do and I somehow had the opinion that he was a clever man who should know better than to use the race card - I was wrong!

I think highly of Morgan Freeman, but I wish he’d loose his racism.

Yup, HIS racism.

It isn’t all about skin color any more. I know his generation experienced many humiliating things...but he and most of his peers survived and prospered.

The fact is that - skin color excluded - Obama is an idiot.

Pure and simple. I’d despise the Obamaloon no matter what color he is. He is a spoiled, ill educated below average intelligence twit thats’s far above his mental level.

Were he white, he’d still be a spoiled, illeducated below average intelligence twit.

However, he wouldn’t be far above his mental level because affirmative action wouldn’t have allowed him to sleaze his way through his education (as ill-demanding as his lib arts degrees were).

My apologies. I wasn't trying to offend.

Sometimes when I *try* to be short with a response it comes out wrong.
(and the earlier it is in the day, the more it happens)

Don't be so glum Morgan.

Quiesha Shenaynay Jada, Demetrius Darnelle DeAndré, and Lakaysha Tawana Jackson-Brown will vote 98% for the Black Massiah.

Come on you racist Tea Party folks you understand the code.
You are just upset because Freeman has figured it out.

Mitch McConnell’s stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that [a black] Obama [or any minority] only serves one term [and to return back to the time when slavey was cool...all hail the grand wizzard!]

I see that rheumatoid arthritis commercial on television and the black woman is nodding in agreement with the white woman and I think “She’s being paid to nod. In real life, she could hate her.”

Correct - Another pompous pretender.

He played God on TV. Sometimes their roles go to their heads.

Somehow the hollywood "stars" of today THINK they command all of the awe and grandeur of movie stars of times past...they don't.

It's turned into a big "club" and to me a member in good standing you have to eat, sleep, and bleed liberalism...or progressivism (obama's brand of liberalism).

But a limit has been reached; there are too many outlets to air the dirty laundry of the glittering mob and their star power is waning.

Actually, more than Morgan mouthing off, I find Piers Morgan even more offensive as he has no dog in the hunt to begin with...a defrocked journalist in England come to America to take advantage of the ignorant class' obsession with British/Australian accents, he just a pompous ass showing as much ignorance about America as obama.

I'm beginning to think that a lot of blacks love to "lecture" the white folk...Morgan, waters, and obama...I even have a black co-worker who loves to lecture everyone in he office. Well, the higher they fly, the further they have to fall.

Pretty funny, getting lectured by a step-granddaughter-molesting pervert who started on a children's show with Big Bird and Elmo.

These people will never learn the lesson the Dixie Chicks taught so well over the past 8 years. How many times have we said it, "shut up and sing" ... the "or else" is what they don't understand. The way to "stop" these people is to stop "following" them. I really enjoyed Morgan Freeman as an actor. ... but notice the "past tense". I'll never go to another of his movies ... he doesn't exist in my world. Not just because I disagree with him, but because I consider him a threat to the United States ... and that's still MY country.

You know, blacks wanted a black president. So now they got one and they’re in the Big Leagues . .but they are unable to play. Can’t take criticism, can’t take the heat ...can’t grasp the idea that MAYBE this guy might be a one termer BECAUSE HE SUCKS.

Well, PLENTY of white presidents were one termers, took the heat, took the criticism, and just moved the hell on.

It’s PART AND PARCEL of playing in the big leagues of American presidential politics . . .

And here’s a clue — when your guy is down — you TAKE THE KNOCKS — you don’t start with your whining and crying and pulling out the race card.

A lot has convinced me that many blacks are not ready to join the big leagues ..they can’t handle it. It’s tough. It’s rough — and you just might NOT get two terms!! Not due to your race — but because you likely SUCKED at the job!!

Bunch of babies they are if you ask me.
