Obama’s falling approval numbers give us a rare luxury:not having to settle for another McCain

Okay, we have now seen Barack Obama’s approval ratings fall below 40% in a Gallup survey. The left of center polling firm reports Obama’s numbers are seriously upside down with an alarming 54% disapproving of his performance in office.

Forget about the bad numbers Congressional Republicans are getting. The faces of Congress, John Boehner and Mitch McConnell are not running. Obama’s 39% approval rating begs for a primary.

Maybe Hillary Clinton will grace us with her presence and defend her disastrous years as the Secretary of State, maybe we’ll see the Left panic and nominate a George McGovern, ……. Democrats are staring an Election Night bloodbath in the face…….

The latest word from the Washington Post, the Democrat’s pet newspaper is devastating for the Democrats and Obama.

Its just completed survey found merely 20% of voters would cast a ballot to re-elect Obama! Another 33% “would consider voting for him,” which in political conventional wisdom means most of those respondents would NOT vote for him.

If just half of those voters don’t come back to Obama, and at this point he has nothing left to entice them with, he could be looking at a 65/35 BLOWOUT!

But the ….Post’s survey gets still worse because it found two of three respondents have little or no confidence in Obama’s ability to improve the economy – that’s telling!

Add to this the fact that for the first time Obama’s approve/disapprove numbers are at 45/49 in New York a state Democrats simply cannot afford to have to fight for and we can see a perfect storm brewing for November 2012.

You can’t beat somebody with nobody Where will the Democrats who will want to run with a radioactive Barack Obama at the top of their ticket come from?

With the number of fine candidates we have to pick from the odds are greater that we can avoid another McCain.

I don’t get the premise. “Settling” for McCain cost us the election.

We didn't settle for McCain. The State of Florida with their open primary let Democrats and Independants cross over and vote in our primary. There are other states out there that also allow this stupid procedure.

As the Democrats don't have a contested primary this time, they can feel free to cross over and try again to choose our weakest candidate for Obama to run against.....in this case it will be Romney.

Sorry, we NEVER had to settle for McCain. The GOP, with their open primary mania, foisted him on us, ensuring a loss.

Exactly. McCain and the GOP elite manipulated the Florida primary. The next thing we know he’s bussing in his posse to CPAC claiming victory as the nominee. As long as the GOP continues to practices open primaries, there will be polling manipulation and abuse of power for political gain.

The GOP won’t close our primaries. They know that open primaries are the only way to get a RINO, which they beileve is key to victory. They’re terrified if we have closed primaries we’d elect a rightwing wacko—i.e.:, a conservative. The strategy worked so well for them in ‘08, they’re bound and determined to do it all over in ‘12.

What’s that saying about insanity...?

Don’t bet on it. Republicans can still snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Plus, open primaries will allow democrats to pick the weakest candidate for their opponent.

Pubies still haven’t figured that out. Still!

LOL. True...and it's playing out right on schedule again here on FR. Same script. Same tired old lines. Same transparent maneuvers. Different name, all shiny and "newly minted". Right out of a scene from Groundhog Day or One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

I know Exactly What You Mean. Believe me, I do. A Groundhog Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and we have to sit back and watch it. We just have to hope and pray a true conservative wins out. We cannot pin our hopes on another RINO. Even if he wins, we’re still screwed.

Open primaries and a complicit media are the biggest obstacles to overcome. Michigan just changed our primary, but it’s not strong enough, so I doubt it will help in this liberal bastion.
