“A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 17% of Likely U.S. Voters think the federal government today has the consent of the governed. Sixty-nine percent (69%) believe the government does not have that consent. Fourteen percent (14%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The number of voters who feel the government has the consent of the governed – a foundational principle, contained in the Declaration of Independence – is down from 23% in early May and has fallen to its lowest level measured yet.” (Read the entire report HERE.)

We have noted for some time now the undercurrent of raw rage coursing through America. Since last we commented on it, it has gotten increasingly worse. There are those claiming that today America is in a “pre-revolutionary” state. I don’t think IO would go that far – but I do think we are looking at a huge turnover of politicians, both democrat and republican, in the election of 2012.

Americans have watched their country collapse as a result of the political machinations of its national legislature and they are outraged. I dare say Americans are even angrier today than they were in November of 2010. Now THAT is outrage!

I shudder to think that Americans will take to the streets demanding their country be returned, but I fear that is exactly where we are headed today.

For two and a half years America has been lurching from one crisis to another. The recession/depression, monumental unemployment, ObamaCare, bailouts, even more government regulations and more government intrusion in their lives, the debt ceiling debate, the down-grading of America’s credit rating, the stock market falling like a stone – all of this has taken a toll on the citizenry of America —

Like it ever mattered to Obama....He thinks he was elected King. He makes mandates has unelected Czars...doesn’t listen to the public when pushing bills that the majority don’t want.

The problem is while most think we are too liberal, a sizable number think we aren't liberal enough.

I sincerely hope there is a way for it to come to a peaceful resolution.

I think this poll needs to paid high attention to by any conservative who thinks the GOP walked away with any political capital out of the budget deal.

It is time for the Tea Party to take over the Republican party.

That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.

That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.

I think the American people are, in general, the problem. They could take care of this very easily at the poles. But look how they vote.

The problem is they want it both ways...don’t cut any social programs but give them the upside of a free market economy. That scenario does not exist. As Pogo said, we have seen the enemy and he is us.

We have changed from a bottom-up Gov’t, to a top-down Gov’t.

It used to be that local Gov’ts handled most functions of governance. What local Gov’t did not handle was managed by the State, or on the other end, by local churches and civic organizations. It made America strong, and made Americans responsible and independent.

Increasingly, everything is being taken over by the FEDS, their money, and their rules. Whether its welfare, medicare, medicaid, building projects, security, environment, even schools - the localities and States now beg for FED money and must follow FED rules. Obama just took an existing FED Gov’t structure and put it into high gear to make you feel even smaller.

Without the consent of the government, the government can no longer justly exercise power over the people.
