“Vratil clearly believes the kind of internal divide evidenced by the RINO dinner - coupled with what he sees as a radical conservative agenda - could prove detrimental to the party”
But immeasurably beneficial to the United States of America. Country before party. Honor before dishonor.
They need to form their own Moderate Party
Kansas, the “solid Republican State” is really a state where the “moderate” republicans would actually be democrats anywhere else...
Populism and compromise have got us where we are. that’s why we manage to elect so many democrat and weak republican governors.
Wake up people! Quit wishing you were Iowa or Minnesota.
No compromise with socialist/populist progressives.
Rift? Moderate is a filthy word. More like a battle.
And if getting there means working for the ouster of more moderate GOP senators, then so be it.
Then so be it, by God.
Vratil clearly believes the kind of internal divide evidenced by the RINO dinner - coupled with what he sees as a radical conservative agenda - could prove detrimental to the party.
'Moderate' (code for leftist compromiser) says 'radical' conservatives are bad. Conservatives (non-compromisers) are bad. Not 'in touch' with Joe/ Jane voter. Bye now, Mr. Moderate.
Ditto. Big time.
They seek decisive legislative majorities that could push an aggressive conservative agenda.
And if getting there means working for the ouster of more moderate GOP senators, then so be it.

Amen——Amen-———Amen
Moderate GOP Senators. You have been warned.
Yes. It sounds kinda slurpy, though -- as he drools into his oatmeal.
Of course the GOP is going to fracture on some level.
That’s the way political parties remake themselves, which, from time to time, becomes necessary.
The party either fractures literally and the Tea Party replaces the GOP, which then goes the way of the Whigs.
Or the party fractures figuratively and the Tea Party displaces the GOP, which then goes away except, perhaps, in name only.
So the irony is that if the GOP wants to survive, it has to become the GOPINO. Because the Tea Party is either going to RE-place it or DIS-place it.
We will always have two major parties. The Constitution’s winner-take-all scheme makes that functionally inevitable.
However, those two major parties can and will change over time.
They will either change internally (revamp themself) or externally (be displaced by a new party, leaving them to either go away or become a runt/third/meaningless party).
The GOP has a choice: become the Tea Party or be replaced by the Tea Party.
Whig or Republican?
Except it will be the GOP that becomes the “third” (i.e., marginal, loser) party.
The Tea Party would become the second major party, either under that name or taking over the GOP name in name only.
But the old gig is up and the old boys can adapt or die (politically).
“They’ve got more animus toward conservatives than toward socialists. Should tell you all you need to know.”
What tells ME all I need to know is that this is out of Overland Park - a yuppie, liberal, elitist, cookie-cutter suburb of Kansas City.
Exactly.
“Party” will take care of itself. It is not an entity to be served and protected in its own right. It is only a means to an end — the end being the people having a voice to stand up for and enforce constitutionally limited government.
Ultimately, the party will have to bend to the will of the people. It has no other reason for being.
And if the party presently called the GOP somehow refuses this call of political nature, it will go away and be replaced by a party that will.
Welcome to the political jungle, Bob Dole.
Darwin shoveled a huge pile of bullcrap on a lot of points, but “survival of the fittest” to do the job the people want done happens to apply to that manmade construct known as a “political party.”
Well, I should hope so.
Note how the tone of the article is an ultimatum; that's what RINOs do. If you don't want to pander to leftists, they want to kick you out of the 'big tent'. Not that I care to be under it.
Come primary time the RINOs will be licking their wounds in de feet.
Go Tea party, Go real Conservatives.
The myth being purveyed by the left is that you can attack "the rich" with impunity, but the rank and file finally figured out that this cannot be so, thus, the Tea Parties.
Does he really think McCain didn’t fracture the GOP?
Nice mini rant.. the Cocktail Party is indeed where many get addicted to government...
Government can and does act like a drug to some people..
Addicted is what they get..
Same process must be present in LOCAL and STATE government as well..
This is an interesting concept to ruminate over..
GOVERNMENT ADDICTION!!!!!!...
