"Kenneth Wright does not have a criminal record and he had no reason to believe a S.W.A.T team would be breaking down his door at 6 a.m. on Tuesday."

If this doesn't mobilize the biggest of protests, we might as well just pack up all the flags and surrender. I am outraged like I have never been outraged before.
Seems the County guys admit that they don't have enough to do so they participate in "dangerous" search warrant services.
What if the homeowner had appeared with a gun to protect his family from the home invastion, SWAT would have been all too happy to unloaded on him.
I just don’t understand how this is even possible in our country. Very sad.
There are MANY people in default on student loans from this craptastic economy Obama is reigning over. Many will have a fear button hit in them and it will turn to anger where there wasn’t anger before. At Obama.
He is being very foolish allowing the DOE to pull this crap. THIS may cause riots before food and gas prices do.
I doubt riots. But I do NOT doubt “pay back”. I think a lot of cops are going to get visits at THEIR homes soon. Do I condone it? Nope. But I think it is going to happen.
At least they didn’t shoot him 60+ times in front of his kids...
Well, since the federal government took over student loans, the days of bill collectors are gone I guess and SWAT teams will be sent instead. The article says they were federal agents from the DoE’s Office of Inspector General...why the hell does DoE even have law enforcement officers? Scary scary stuff.
I read the story and couldn’t find where it was in reference to student loans. I am completely opposed to the department of education having any sworn law enforcement officers, but could this be some kind of criminal matter like embezzelment, theft, or fraud? If so it should be FBI. But before this goes revolutionary, where does it say it was over an unpaid student loan?
Good for him he didn’t try to defend his home, or just hold a golf club menacingly.
I wonder if Obama is going to say that the Federal Department of Education SWAT Team “acted stupidly”...
Debtor prisons just around the corner?
This is from the story at the TV station’s web-site:
“The U.S. Department of Education issued the search and called in the S.W.A.T for his wife’s defaulted student loans.”
At the end of the video the reporter says, Stockton PD provided one patrol car, the door was not kicked in and they were never held against their will. Something here is very screwy.

Now, think about how the IRS is going to collect on missed monthly payments for Obamakkkare insurance. And if you go to court, you will be going to a federal court in a distant city ~ the hotel bills alone should bankrupt you.
With private insurance doing private things for private American citizens we use local police and the county courthouse to settle accounting disputes.
The story as given is confusing. I gather that this guy’s estranged wife is the person who owes DOE money. But she doesn’t live there.
Of course, anyone who has tried to tell some branch of a federal bureaucracy that someone no longer lives there will realize that any such communication is pretty hopeless.
Someone asked about the authority of the DOE to sanction SWAT action on school loans; it was probably given to them one 2-3 lines of one of these 3000 page bills....
Questions arise. Is the victim of this outrage a gun owner?
Does he have a history of violent behavior? Why a SWAT team and not a process server or a sheriff’s officer?
I might understand backup being present and available if the first two answers were yes. But an assault team seems beyond the pale, even in that case.
A full explanation needs to be forthcoming from all concerned, and a massive lawsuit filed.
I think this is outrageous! And my liberal co-workers don’t think anything is wrong!
Actually, the Stockton Police are saying THEY (the Stockton Police) did not kick in his door or hold him against his will.
They did not deny that his door was kicked in and they did not deny he was held against his will.
Wake up. America (current day) IS a debtor's priosn.
I said that after the Courts decided that “no knock warrants’ and “cops don’t need a warrant if they are suspicious” , that things were going to get bad quickly.
Then the SWAT team murder squad in Tucson last month seemed to prove that out, and that it was only a (short) matter of time before things get completely out of hand.
At least the Pima Co. Sheriff’s SWAT team thought that they were dealing with a dangerous bad guy.
But never did I imagine that Sallie Mae would be sending out SWAT to collect overdue student loans.
Not only do we have a dusky hued Marie Antoinette living in the white house, Barry 0bama seems to be instituting a Reign of Terror to keep us peasants off balance, while at the same time handing out bread (and cake)to the ones he likes.

"This new change in policy by the government and Department of Education, primarily when the country is in one of the largest unemployment and economic recessionary periods in our history, shows the absolute disconnect between the government and the people."
I remember when this was a sane country and the government used to garnish people’s wages and/or seize their tax refunds if they owed money and were not paying it back...
Even the FDA has their own SWAT team.
Did they spare the dog this time?
Sending TSA to a high school prom is beyond the pale, too, but the District of Criminals is doing it anyway.
That’s the point,,, there is no criminal charge related to a defaulted loan. But there are charges that can cause arrest if you for example, commit outright fraud. If this was just over a default, there should be many more examples. The truth will come out soon,,,, either way.
"The Office of Inspector General does not engage in the collection of student loans. Our mission is to conduct criminal investigations related to the programs and operations of the U.S. Department of Education, which include the student financial aid programs. We can confirm that we executed a search warrant at the residence, however our policy is not to discuss details of our on-going work."Most likely this is about fraud, not someone's defaulted loans. I would expect a more responsible article from Malkin's site.

insanity,,, those agencies should have to deal with the FBI.
It will be taxpayer prisons before debtor prisons. The deadbeats always vote Dim.
Let’s assume you are correct, and the DOE decided to swear out a criminal warrant for fraud against this woman. It is more likely than not that the ‘fraud’ is related to her non-payment of student loans.
In your opinion, does such a fraud warrant signed not by a judge, but by an unelected official of the executive branch of our government, justify a ‘no-knock’ SWAT raid at 6:30 am at a house in which the subject of the warrant does not reside? Does it justify handcuffing and detaining a non-violent, non-resisting person who is NOT the subject of the warrant?
Given what I have seen and heard about the Dept. of (mis)Education, I think that I would revise 2 of your 3 ‘R’s and have “Race”, “Raidin” and “Ritalin” as more properly describing this obscene out-growth from the formerly obscene HEW (Health, Education & Welfare) [Thank you James Earl Carter].
The U.S. Department of Education issued the search and called in S.W.A.T for his wife’s defaulted student loans.
“They busted down my door for this,” Wright said. “It wasn’t even me.”

It would seem that you consider being a gun owner justification for gestapo tactics.
Even if it were a criminal fraud case, there is no excuse for sending a jack-booted group of goons called a “SWAT Team” to kick in a door and do who-knows-what else.
The Mafia and Guido-The-Collector look humane compared to this.
Can you say “Miss Use of government funds!
We have become a police state and it won’t stop until there is pain to those doing this type of crap.
According to the video, the local cops said they only sent one patrol car, that they did bash the door in, and that they did not detain the home’s resident or his children.
It appears that this was an invasion by the Department of Education SWAT team.
Perhaps it explains why the DOE was buying short-barreled shotguns a while back.

How the heck big is this guy's house, if it took a 15 man team 6 hours to determine the estranged wife wasn't inside?!?
6 hours, in his underwear, cuffed, locked in a patrol car with his young kids, sounds like a few human rights violations.
And it WAS about the estranged wife owing on a student loan.
Longer storey, and video at site; loan mentioned starting about 1:18 in.
Too much State; too many Police = Police State.
Well, THAT didn’t take long!
They (ABC news-10) disappeared the page & story already.
Not so; I am seeking any reason why such an outrage would come to pass. A reason does not always justify an act, but can help you to understand the thinking behind it. Before we can correct that "thinking" we have to understand it.
There has *GOT* to be more to this story. I can’t believe that this type of action over unpaid school loans, (or any loans for that matter,) warrent this type of thuggish behavior. If this truely is the case, we’re in really deep trouble that has no peaceful way out.
The link doesn’t work ... Was the tv reporter punked?
