Reno, Nevada (CNN) Over and over Thursday, President Barack Obama told workers at a renewable energy company that he is like them.
He remembers pumping gas when high oil prices ate a hole in his budget, he said. He knows he wouldnt have made it through college without scholarships and loans.
And now as president, he promised that he wont let the current debate on deficit reduction deny others the chance for the American dream he has lived.
We cant ignore future deficits, but just as ignoring deficits would mortgage our future, failing to invest in our kids and our infrastructure and our basic research and clean energy, that would be mortgaging our future, as well, he said to applause. And Im not willing to do it. Ads by Google

Repeating past calls for ending subsidies for oil companies and restoring higher tax rates for the highest-income Americans, Obama defended what he called his balanced approach to deficit reduction and depicted the Republican stance as favoring the well-to-do.
Im rooting for everybody to get rich, he said. But I believe that we cant ask everybody to sacrifice and then tell the wealthiest among us, well, you can just relax and go count your money, and dont worry about it. Were not going to ask anything of you.

He remembers pumping gas when high oil prices ate a hole in his budget, he said. He knows he wouldnt have made it through college without scholarships and loans....Barry is not like anyone in America.
Its getting real easy to count ones money as of late
If you’re President of the United States, you can’t just go play golf all the time and party all the time and travel all the time...
I’d like to know WHO gave him scholarsips...and loans...
Hmmmm maybe he should spell out for us what loans and what scholarships. How did he repay them? etc. Really shouldn’t be all that difficult to do.
0bama is beyond reprehensable. What absolute arrogance.
He can go back to Hell.
If taxes don’t pay the government to protect your property and other rights, then why should anyone be willing to pay them?
Obama’s actions are nothing but provocation of class warfare. What a lot of people don’t understand is that once money is earned and stacked away in bank accounts, the tax implications have ended. The rich will still be, well ..... rich. They will only be paying taxes on the interest or other investment earnings of the money stowed away.
Now, the rich have a choice: a) sit on the money and pay minimal taxes on just interest, or b) put it to use as venture capital / invest in growing an existing business. With tax rates over 50%, which would you choose? Unless the government simply confiscates existing wealth (as in the case of the death tax), there is no way to increase the tax burden of the “rich”. To the contrary: the “rich” can simply decide if they want exposure to the tax burden. If not, they simply sit on the money and live their lives to whatever degree of exorbitance they damn well choose. Who looses out? Everyone that would have been provided employment by the use of the funds to grow business.
He is one bossy, bullying prick.
But that is exactly what he is doing. He's not taxing the ones that are already rich. He is taxing the ones who are trying to become rich.
I have never in my life detested anyone like I do him. He is one very evil and vile excuse for a piece of scum.
He’s a communist sonofabitch.
0bama doesn’t have to count his own millions.....
Prove it. Let's see some details about those "scholarships and loans."
Agreed
Barry it seems to me that you made more money than the previous presidents.
“But that is exactly what he is doing. He’s not taxing the ones that are already rich. He is taxing the ones who are trying to become rich.”
Exactly, good point. This is the ‘land of opportunity’, but it is especially difficult to make ends meet and get ahead when prices and taxes continue to rise.
