Gemeinnutzgeht vor Eigennutz. (The common good supersedes the private good.) ~ Nazi slogan
Prologue
Fanatical environmentalism, vegetarianism, animal rights and public health are four progressive policy initiatives that most people would not readily associate with Hitler and the Nazis. "Unlike Marxism, which declared much of culture and humanity irrelevant to the revolution, National Socialism was holistic," wrote Jonah Goldberg. Indeed, "organic" and "holistic" were the Nazi terms of art for totalitarianism. The Mussolinian vision of everything inside the state, nothing outside the state, was organic-ized by the Nazis. In this sense, the Bavarian cabinet minister Hans Schemm was deadly serious when he said, "National Socialism is applied biology [Darwinism]."

“So, was the “final solution” a “holistic” approach by the Nazis for dealing with das jüdische Problem?”
Sure, they didn’t blindly follow the standard treatment, they were willing to try bullets, gas, hangings, starvation and other “alternative therapies”.
This is another 3 point play for truth!
“Ja, follow me to za Zyklon showers, mein jüdischer Freund, we haff been vaitink for you....”
Schemm apparently made the stupid and emotional error of equating "survival of the fittest" with "survival of the most ruthless."
Ironically, the essential principle of natural selection, where a species either adapts to changing environments or perishes, applies also to human civilizations, except that the values fundamental to the Judeo-Christian ethic are what ensure the human race's survival (not to mention our individual souls) in the turbulent environment of human nature. That ethic is the key to adapting socially to and within any environment; as long as we do unto others as we'd have them do unto us, practice mercy and forgiveness, respect marriage and our parents, resist envy and covetnousness, etc. as described in the old and new testaments -- we are always on a path to abundance. Western civilizations with those values at their foundations, have thrived so well, survived so superbly, that they even eliminated human slavery.
If we cease to do those things, we perish and become part of a human history filled with peoples and civilizations of little or zero legacy, forgotten, spent. Abandoning the Judeo-Christian core and then seeing the downfall and destruction of those civilizations where the cold, arrogant brutality of athiesm and socialism presumes to replace Judeo-Christian (not Islamic, not Confucian, not Wikkan, not Buhddist, not Hindu, not Ba'Hai, but only and specifically Judeo-Christian) values and principles, is a sad case of what Schemm so condescendingly described as "applied biology [Darwinism]."
So very rich. It seems God certainly has a sense of humor.
I find the quote from Reagan’s Surgeon General Koop very chilling. Reagan appointed a Nazi.
Red in tooth and claw ... and idealogy, despite over six decades of propaganda from the left to cover it's tracks. "Ruthlessness" in surviving is fitness to survive under Darwinism.
Nazism as applied biology, indeed. There's a reason leftists and scientists immediately start shrieking denunciations about "social Darwinism." They've been at pains to distance themselves for quite some time.
The left doth protest too much, as doth science. There's another term, an historical one actually used by Nazis, to describe Nazism.
Scientific socialism.
That sounds so much like the line from the Star Trek movie ("the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few") that it's not even funny.
On the other hand, for those who don't know German, it looks like a very good humorous caption for this poster:
Cheers!
It leads to blindness and error.
Okay but the context is that both Left and Right have introduced regulations and practices that corrupted our food sources.
There are now practical reasons to turn to organic (not that this term means much) and naturally grown product. The reality is, ALL of our seeds available on the market have been genetically mutated, and farmers are restricted in hot hey grow, what they grow, and when, in a system that forced subsidies on them, or puts them out of business. Most of our crops are under contract of corporations that are up to no good.
This is where the left and the right should be able to find some middle ground.
A good film on the topic is called King Corn. It’s usually available on Netflix watch it now. It’s Left leaning, but tolerable. They do tie Clarence Thomas and others to Monsanto, but it’s deserving.
I believe that attempting to harmonize Darwinism with Chrisitanity is blindness and error, Finny. Schemm made no mistake. You’re making one.
I’m all for voluntary, individual self-sufficiency. I’m not about to wade into the fever swamp of paranoia surrounding certain agricultural conglomerates. Food that you have grown yourself tastes better, is fresher and likely is better for you. There’s also a sense of accomplishment. It’s a great skill to have, and perhaps even a necessary one going forward. But, you teeter on sounding rather conspiratorial and legislative about it, and I will not join you. Are you sure you belong here on Free Republic?
It was not just the Jews either, but the Gypsies, mentally retarded or mentally ill, or anyone else the Nazis deemed to be the “untermensch”.
True; but the virulence of the Nazi hatred against the Jews, combined with the false belief of the innate superiority of “Aryans”, led the Nazis to take steps that a more traditional German state would never have done.
“Im not about to wade into the fever swamp of paranoia surrounding certain agricultural conglomerates.”
It’s weird you would ask if I belong on Free Republic, considering your style of blind ignorance is out of style here.
Growing your own food doesn’t always equate better either... your seed, the soil, the technique to grow all play a part. The fact is, few if any seeds on the market are pure, natural, and free of lineage from lab mutations to make growing easier. It’s the reason why produce grows larger and for longer seasons than ever before.
...but seriously, research Monsanto before you mouth off.
There is paranoia and has been for decades surrounding large agricultural conglomerates.
You obsess with Monsanto, have attempted to besmirch Justice Clarence Thomas with some frenetic, fantasized “connection” in your initial reply to me, and then have the sheer temerity to tell me what is and isn’t “out of style” on Free Republic?
I seriously suggest you shut up and get lost, speaking of mouthing off, you mouthy noob.
You. Do. Not. Belong. Here.
Goodbye.
Oh pipe down with your fascist rhetoric, RegulatorCountry.
I suppose you’re pro overreaching Agricultural Regulations, “RegulatorCountry”, and that’s why you’re defending Monsanto? Don’t pretend that represents a Free Republic approved opinion.
Nice attempt to reduce the discourse to one of calling people “noobs” and telling them to “get lost” though.
