As pointed out previously in I Can See Russia, one of Sarah Palins roles was that of Commander in Chief of the Alaska National Guard. While she wouldnt have been charged with making decisions concerning the military, she would have been kept informed of any possible threats to the state. While Border States in the U.S. Southwest have to deal with the invasion of illegal aliens, Alaska has to contend with the ominous threat of Russian Bear bombers. Should these military airplanes penetrate our defenses, they could quite possibly disrupt the flow of oil by bombing the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline System and the terminals located at either end of the pipeline, not to mention large city centers. It would be illogical to think that the governor would not have been briefed regularly on this particular threat, or that she wouldnt have developed insight into the behavior of a potentially dangerous country like Russia even without direct contact with its leader.
But Governor Palin would have gained foreign policy experience in another arena as well.
Unlike most states governors in the lower 48, Alaskas governor is in the unique position of dealing with international issues on a regular basis. Because Alaska is located at the top of the Pacific Rim, its strategic position and vast wealth of natural resources make it an important trading center.
International investment and trade contribute heavily to Alaskas economy. Its exports reached $3-$4 billion per year for the last seven years in seafood, minerals, energy, precious metals, and forest products, respectively.
Governor Palins first encounter with foreign diplomats was in January 2007 when she met with officials from Canada. Yukon Premier Dennis Fentie, Consul General Peter Lloyd from the Canadian Consulate in Seattle, and the Northwest Territories Minister for Industry, Tourism and Investment Brendan Bell met specifically

Does every governor's state border two foriegn countries. One of them being Russia. The same experience, I think not.
Thank you for your worthless explanation
Fair enough, but IMO Palin is more like the Gipper than anyone in the past two decades. Criticism rolls off her, she is fearless and she has great personal integrity and common sense. Bob
Wow, PDSers are out in force tonight! Is it the phase of the moon or something?
All right then. So I guess you aren't going to complain when I call your response to the article "silly" are you.
Every governor who lobbies for their states meets diplomats, I would say so what?
And of course many of our potential candidates are governors. It's certainly good to see specific examples of the diplomatic experiences from our specific candidates.
It is not relevant to a presidential decision because every governor running has the same experience.
I'm glad you want to tell folks that all the governors have the same experience, but some of us would rather determine the specifics of each of the governors' diplomatic experiences on our own.
In that respect then this article is useful.
lol the truth is silly now. I see....
you plainhaters are a freaking cult
the haters don’t know any other way to act. they ar edumb, deaf and blind with their hate...
Palin 2012: I Can See My Opponents’ Impending Doom From My House.
You are 100% correct.
But the public perception is what counts. It’s like faith. Facts do not matter.
How many VP candidates for a losing ticket, after returning to their home state, became the focus of an intense campaign of personal destruction, including household-name TV hosts making jokes on national TV about the statutory rape of their daughter by a professional athlete, and dozens of unfounded lawsuits which the candidate was forced to defend out of their own pocket, due to the vicissitudes of state law?
How many said candidates, having dropped out of elective office altogether, are still the focus of intense personal attacks by elected democrats speaking officially as part of their duties of office, have public Facebook groups calling for their indictment for complicity in mass murder, and other groups calling for their death?
And how many still have the rest of a major party's Presidential candidates putting their announcements and/or aspirations on hold until they themselves have declared?
Nice try, though.
Pointing out facts about her record != worship.
Try again.

It’s admiration, not worship for Palin. She has vision and she understands what is at the root of most of the problems of our time. Here’s a quote from a Doug Brady post at C4P.
-—With regard to the important issue of unsustainable public employee pensions, she boldly enacted much needed reforms to Alaskas Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) and Teachers Retirement System (TRS). In so doing, she ratcheted down taxpayer exposure by using a tiered system for current employees that allots their pensions according to seniority. In addition, she enacted a totally new system for those who are newly employed while honoring past commitments which she was legally bound to do. -——
Now, if the former governor of WI had understood the problem, had the vision to see a solution, and had the guts to do something about it, we wouldn’t have senators hiding out in neighboring states. Palin has vision, leadership skills, and and the courage to act and that, many of us admire.
Really, unless you're goal is providing an extended platform for the Anti-Palin sphincters to stand on and spew their shrill little schoolboy lipsnot, it is best not to invite the rump-licks to continue to gush their pus like squeezing a zit.
Leave this homosexual alone, and maybe he'll go away. Keep poking him, and he'll keep exposing and fondling himself in public.
;-\
yeah and the reaction when she visited the wounded in Germany and Walter Reid.
Thanks for your post. I am soooo tired of being accused of “worship” re: Sarah Palin, because these anal posters are out to destroy her. I do not “worship” ANY human being, and resent some anonymous poster insuating that I or anyone else who dares to point out Palin’s accomplishments or record does.
Says alot to me... good question indeed.
Excuse me?
