At Clinton Speech: Veteran Bloodied, Bruised & Arrested for Standing Silently As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave her speech at George Washington University yesterday, condemning governments that arrest protestors and do not allow free expression, 71-year-old Ray McGovern was grabbed from the audience in plain view of her by police and an unidentified official in plain clothes, brutalized and left bleeding in jail. She never paused speaking. When Secretary Clinton began her speech, Mr. McGovern remained standing silently in the audience and turned his back. Mr. McGovern, a veteran Army officer who also worked as a C.I.A. analyst for 27 years, was wearing a Veterans for Peace t-shirt. Blind-sided by security officers who pounced upon him, Mr. McGovern remarked, as he was hauled out the door, “So this is America?” As you see, Mr. McGovern is covered with bruises, lacerations and contusions inflicted in the assault.

Disruptor? If the article is correct, I beg to differ.

You failed to find the weenie.

The key word was "standing", not "silently".

Hey...anything that could potentially make that wicked witch look bad, I’m all for. I hope she self-destructs before 2012 rolls around,as Zer0 is doing.

The university had the following statement: 'The George Washington University is committed to the protection of free speech, freedom of assembly and the right of lawful protest on campus.

Protection of free speech? Will I be the only one to unfurl the bullsh*t flag?

Kind of ironic that the head of a counterpunch front group VIPS got “counterpunched.”

There are a lot of people on this thread who are letting the fact that the speaker was HRC cause them to embrace the use of fascistic tactics.

This is not wise.

The Hildebeeste came out and said during Bush’s term that dissent was patriotic, then when Barry got in, now it’s dissent is terrorism. The blood boil factor went up by a factor of a thousand on that one.

I guess you didn't read beyond that line. GW is saying that you have every right to demonstrate outside the building. But you don't have the right to demonstrate inside the room where the speaker is speaking and violate the rights of those inside wishing to hear the speech. I like that policy better than at some schools that allow the demonstrators to prevent the speaker from speaking. Tom Tancredo and Ann Coulter are prime examples of how the Left tries to shut down free speech.

'When an invited speaker is the object of protest, demonstrations may occur outside the university building, facility or space where the lecture takes place, subject to additional requirements found in the university’s demonstration policy.

'A man, who is not affiliated with the George Washington University, was arrested Tuesday afternoon by the George Washington University Police Department (GWPD) and was charged with disorderly conduct after violating the university’s demonstration policy during a speech by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on campus. 'Shortly after the Secretary began speaking, the man stood up from his seat blocking the view of guests and media.

'When asked twice by a GWPD officer to leave, the man refused. As a result, he was escorted by GWPD out of the building and was placed in the custody of the Metropolitan Police Department.'

He is a "community organizer" and part of VIPS which is a group dedicated to getting federal employees to steal and leak classified information to unauthorized people even if such leaks end up getting US servicemen and intelligence assets killed.

He's also written bogus articles in the Muslim American Society publication claiming the Bush admin would start drafting people if Bush defeated Kerry in the election.

Members of McGovern's group VIPS are associated with Lyndon LaRouche's magazine "Executive Intelligence Review." McGovern claims to be a CIA analyst while simulataneously claiming to have "no knowledge" of the well known LaRouche movement. So as analysts go it doesn't sound like he was a good one.

McGovern is also linked to Sojourners, a marxist mag.

Others who like his work are Palestinian News and Guerrilla News.

The leftist William Rivers Pitt of Democratic Underground uses VIPS' Ray McGovern as a source. [Along with the infamous UN /BurgerKing playground inspector Scott Ritter.]

Fellow travelers of his include Cynthia McKinney of 9/11 fundraising fame; Michael Ruppert of the group "From the Wilderness"; Wayne Madsen [FreeRepublic-hating conspiracy kook]; the econut Code Pink cofounder Medea Benjamin of Fallujah insurgency/Gaza Flotilla fame; Ellsburg the fellow who wrote and stole the Pentagon Papers to undermine South Vietnam; and the Alamoudi's butt boy ambassador Joe Wilson, husband of Valerie Plame.

There's more... but he's not worth it.

I don’t agree with his politics, but a silent shunning isn’t what I call a disruption, as it doesn’t prevent the speaker from being heard. And it would be fantastic to see an entire audience stand up and turn their backs on certain politicians.

One of the whining, crying Ray McGovern's pals:

* Ellen Barfield :
...Here's a clueless quote from Ms Barfield [a member of the leadership of Veterans For Peace], a Democrat organization that receives money from Heinz-Kerry's Tides Foundation:

"While [Saddam] Hussein has always been politically oppressive to his opponents, he has never been physically oppressive to his people," said Barfield."

I don't think a decent veteran would want to wear one of their T-shirts.

Heinz pulls more strings in the foundation world than almost any other old-money socialite;

In recent years, yes, but not originally. Ted Turner was a biggie with Tides from the get-go. But then, Drummond Pike will take anybody's money; he's a real piece of work.

Chrysler? Looks like getting on the 0-bot's bail out list comes at a price.

Maybe Ray McGovern would prefer Cuba, like his pals. I'd sure prefer it if he and all his fellow red daiper wearing "veterans" and wannabees moved there.

Jim Long, a rabble-rouser for the Veterans Speakers Alliance and Veterans For Peace, showed up to protest a fund raiser for President Bush this summer in San Francisco and extolled the virtues of comrade Castro, dictator for life in Cuba. A screaming mob of anarchists, environmentalists, Marxists, the Service Employees International Union, the Communications Workers of America and Green Party watermelons cheered him on.
Long proudly proclaimed that on every November 11th, he goes to Cuba to meet with comrades and honor communist veterans in a special commemorative ceremony. 11 posted on 08/08/2003 5:53:35 AM PDT by sergeantdave
